Weather it is or not Isn't as important as finding a routine that gets you on the path to relaxation, and provides a source excercise. I've done yoga, including meditation, for years, and it's great in all it's various forms that I've seen.
It's another form of baby steps, and gets you to focus on the present. Anyone can do the meditation, and most can jump right into low impact sessions. For those who haven't tried it, go to just about any book or video store, get as disk, and jump in.
