You Know You Have PTSD When...

You know you have PTSD when...

A little old man hobbles up to you with a cane and your heart races and your arms start to tremble...because he asks you what your name is and where you live in town--something in the back of your brain is convinced that HE must be the next stalking serial rapist in your life.

When you are terrified in going to adult emergency care by yourself, knowing your ptsd has worsen over time.

When you have people ask long and intrusive questions, over and over again.

When all you want to do is yell and scream but you can't.

When your stomach is unable to function normally...

When you reach a point in your life when you think your normal.

When you write on the forum that you're border line happy.

When you learn to put the past into pigeon holes, then punch them back in there when they start to fall out.

When you've found the switch to turn off you're emotions.

When 'happiness' is caused by meds, 'hate' is caused by a mirror and 'sadness' is simply not allowed.

When you can't tell your best friend anything, but pour your heart out to the stranger you see once a week.

When your past is something you can't forget, the things that happen in the present are the things you can't remember and 'tomorrow' is something you have little concept of.

When an inanimate object like a blanket or a bear is more comforting and safe than a hug.

When you have to have a talk with yourself before doing anything outside your comfort zone.

When everything is outside your comfort zone.
