I am 19 and have been living with ptsd for 8 years. When I was 11 I was raped and again when i was 14, since then I don't sleep very good. I would say that sleep is my biggest issue because I still wet the bed some nights. I used to do it all the time, but since I have been with my boyfriend it had almost stopped. For some reason it has started again and i can't get it to stop. The hole thing has made me feel like maybe I will never stop. I dont know what to do anymore I've tried everything I could think off. And yes I do have nightmares, but I dont always wet the bed because of them.....at least I dont think. Because I have had dry nights even with having nightmares.

Have you had the relevant medical testing to ensure there is no physical cause?

Only asking because a family member of mine had exactly the same problem, with no history of abuse until age 21 when they finally discovered that his bladder was unnaturally small so unable to hold an entire nights fluids.
Its been corrected somehow now, though I'm not sure on the details.

My daughter also has the issue still, and what we have discovered is that its exhaustion.
Will only ever happen on nights that she is over tired or has gone to bed late.
I believe that in her case, in her deepest sleep her body is unable to recognise that she needs to go.

The fact that it happens when you have no dream recall kind of indicate that you are in that same deep state of sleep, as that's also when you will have no memory of dreams.

Yes i have had medical testing and it was normal. And I don't think its because of exhaustion because I sleep for about 9 hours each night. i hardly ever wake up in the middle of the night even when I have accidents.

I never had a problem with bed wetting until my PTSD symptoms appeared, which was recently. After a few months it stopped, but I would recommend plastic sheets, setting the alarm every 2 hours to get up and use the bathroom, and stuff like that.

what i dont understand is how it started again. I had stopped and I didnt do anything different and it just started again. I don't mean to sound mean or anything its just that i have been dealing with this for 8 years and i finally stopped or at least i thought i did but its back and i feel horrible about it.
