Does Anyone Have This Sensation Too?

Hello all,

I'm new here just because I found you a few minutes ago and thought it would be a great place to come for other support, other than my therapist and my biggest concern is below:

The thing that I have the most trouble with getting over is this genital tingling and "turned on" sensation (the most troubling to me) EVERY time I run into my number of triggers, and then a sensation like I'm being touched by my abuser (background: I was molested from 8-9 years old).

A few years after I was molested, I developed vulvydia (my vulva becomes really red and hurts when triggered/stressed) and 5 years ago after three traumatic incidents happened in a row (I had a stalker, I went to the same courthouse where my case was, and then I got lost on the bus), I have developed tingly sensations and feeling like a finger is going inside my vagina at every single trigger... Which is almost all the time, and it's very, very upsetting to me because it's a feeling of being poked by a finger and being turned on by it. I also feel "his" touch on my left breast, my left arm, and my left ear (the most traumatic event I had was him touching me in all of those places).

My therapist has told me (and 5 other professionals) that it, and all of my other symptoms, are normal, to let it be, and that with my OCD I've become obsessive over it (I have), which is making it worse by crying over having a sensation or having a panic attack because I know it's coming or it happened, that doesn't do anything and reflect abuse, not anything I like or want. BUT, I just want to know if anyone else has something like this other than myself because I feel like a freak.

Thank you for replying and sharing if you do.

It was always described to me as my body remembering what happened and my huge guilt for it happening, and therefore it being embedded into my body and mind memory and popping up whenever there's a trigger around.

Yes, I've known that for a while now.

I'm asking if anyone has the same genital sensations every time (or sometimes) when they are faced with a trigger.

Not the same as you describe - mine are more like aggressive jabs - but, yes.

And they can be referred to both as flashbacks and body memories.

You'll find it's actually very common, and while you are asking specifically about your genitalia, people get them everywhere - it's all very trauma-specific. It's along the same lines as why people can 'feel' a missing limb after it's gone. Bodies remember.

@ShamrockChalk, welcome! I hope you find the community helpful. I have the same exact sensations you're referring to, actually -- and I'm quite glad I'm not the only one who gets those sensations, so now I know I'm not alone. My abuser did lots of things to me at age 7 and one of those things were... well... it's why I get tingles where I get them.
