Bone Chilling Cold

Post away but, yes, I think you could learn to regulate your response with biofeedback.

Like I think I've said, my T had done an interesting assortment of stuff. The biofeedback gets used for both "pain people" and special forces types, for instance. I happen to think it's cool, but it's also helped me see that there is real stuff that's actually going on and means something even though I've chosen to ignore it AND "it's nothin' but a thing" so there's no reason to get too freaked out about it.

What Friday said. Only she said it better. :)

You know those little pouches you carry around in your pocket for if you need instant warmth and it's cold out? Like to warm your hands? They have some kind of gel in them. You snap them and they warm up, stay warm for a while, then you have to soften them in hot water before you use them again. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Anyone know what I'm talking about?
Hunters use them
Yes, and chicks that sleep in their cars use them. Hmmmmm. That might just be a help. Some for the shoes maybe?

Scout, I don't understand the biofeedback model actually as to how it could work in this way. I will post a body memory posting and perhaps if you feel like it you can help me with it there?

@sun seeker -yes as I used them a lot during fall and winter hunting and fishing.

@shimmerz I understand the bone chilling cold all too well and thanks to your thread @scout86 has really given me an idea to learn to raise the temperature of my extremities. I can already regulate my heartbeat and my blood pressure so maybe this won't be too difficult?:cautious: However at times down comforters seem to work the best -anxiety or not. LOL

Blankets are my friend. There is NOTHING like a blanket when I am in this mode. And sometimes I need like - 50 of them. As a kid, even in the summer I used to sleep with SO many heavy blankets. I would freak if my mother tried to take any away. They didn't know about weighted blankets at that time. She didn't get it and thought I would get sick by overheating.

Thank you, yes, I recall this thread and that it resonated with me
My train of thought derailed halfway into that.

Knew the spectrum part was important.. But where I think I was going with that was an early warning system for your part that does the TB thing. Since it's all in a spectrum? If you can find a way to divert the anxiety before it hits the place where that aspect takes over? Ideal. BUT in the teaching yourself other options, vein? Communicating with a non-verbal part? If you acted out her stuff, in a safer way? Used her choices with your insight into alterations to make things safer? Might could start redirecting her impulses, because showing works better than telling.

BUT in the teaching yourself other options,
Cold is cold and it seems it doesn't matter how many layers I have on. I believe this is one of those 'I can't see it although it is right there' issues. I can feel my brain seize up when I read your posting (not because it doesn't make sense). Yesterday I went into the truck, turned the heat on the highest it would go, grabbed a Timmy's coffee and held it against my face/hands/neck. Sat in the truck steaming for 15 minutes.

Took one step out of the truck again and I was shivering all over. It hits fast. And it was 50 degrees out for crying out loud. SO took me home the minute I walked into the office. Dropped on the couch with my blanket for 4 or so hours.

I just want to be able to function again in a reasonable way. I am exhausted from all of this. So tired of it all....

Science Hat On ;)

Straight up, simple anxiety can cause that. It's part of the fight/flight response. O...
Damn. You just made some stuff make serious sense to me.

When I was with the ex I was cold alot. Even when it was 70-75 out.

Not anymore. I am thinner now than I was then. Figure that out! Js
I have most of my issues in the am. Guess when I have the worst cold spells?

I told you you were smart!

Wow, I had no idea! I can be so cold my bones ache and everyone else is complaining because it 90's out. The pouches don't do much for me ever though I spend a lot of money on them. They really don't feel that warm. Scalding hot water is often the same.

Scalding hot water is often the same.
Damn. This is why I used to scald myself in the shower.

It all comes together .....

So Friday, what did I miss. You said it comes from the inside. I agree. Again, these posts these past few days I am having disconnects with. Please be patient with me if I missed something (Scout too). I don't get the biofeedback thing.... and Friday did you make a suggestion as to how to manage the internal cold thing?
