Just like an interview- this is a new employee, you want to know what she thinks she can do for you and get some examples of what she has done for others that she thinks will convince you she can do it for you too. Set some short term goals, and establish a way to measure the progress. If she is anything like the therapists that I have seen and stayed with, she will be ready for all of this and hoping you are focused enough on the business at hand to be ready for it too.
If you aren't, AND she isn't, you are setting out on an adventure in a ship without a rudder or compass or even a destination.
If you aren't, I can understand that and she should too, just be sure she keeps the session on track as much as possible and seems clear about getting some landmarks established and then give it a chance.
I think I was taken advantage of many times years ago by therapists that just wanted to talk about what was happening, how I felt about current events, even sports or the weather. Even just rehashing the situation at hand over and over week after week was a waste of money and time.
I am results oriented and if you are too, I hope my advice is taken well. I don't want to offend anyone that is progressing slower from a worse position than the ones I have been in.
We are all different, here on this bus where we are all the same. If you can get help from someone that you like for different reasons than the ones I choose to follow, by all means do.
Thats the long and the short, be looking for HELP in any form it comes in.
