Hi guys..I haven't been on in a while. I've been making some great strides with my PTSD, however I still have problems every now and then. Honestly, this is the best advice forum I have ever found. I went to something else, but people don't seem to "get" it with this disease unless they too suffer or have been exposed to the illness!

..so everyone says it's a "bad" habit that I sleep in the bathtub often. I end up very very tired and get up every few hours. This past month was tough..I lost 2 people close to me and I got into a car accident (the other drivers fault). Then the next day my best friend's car got hit and run in the same exact location. I got really paranoid it was the same guy, I tracked down his car at the train station to confirm he didn't do it, made me feel a lot better. Ever since then

.. I have had some really weird dreams. Today..I had one where I was on the road I take to work every day. MOST of the time I can discern a dream from reality. Today, I could not. I was getting tired..and started falling asleep at the wheel. It was icy out. I was trying to stay awake, and failing. I started spinning around on the ice, and then an 18 wheeler came rolling by and slammed into me. That's when I woke up screaming in my bathtub. That was the worst, but I've been having many more.

Does anyone else dream extremely vividly? I am also a wildly creative person, my brain is 85% right side. I am stuck in a rutt with my career. I've been doing real estate..and it's been ok. However, I feel "stuck" doing this. I can't be creative, it's emotionally draining, and there's too much risk. I haven't been able to do a creative project in forever simply because I feel trapped doing this. I would love to go into writing..i am very tired so while this may not be organized, I write very well when in good rest. I'm afraid to quit real estate, that people will see me as a failure.

Are you on any meds at the moment? I have a lot of disturbing dreams and nightmares, but the worst period of extremely vivid dreaming - times I couldn't tell awake from asleep, dream from reality - it was a side effect of the antidepressant I was on at the time.

I have always had vivid dreams. My earliest involved a nightmare, but I rarely have those, mostly they're good dreams-I like to think of it as my brain trying to fight my PTSD. The hardest is dreaming of flying, and waking up remembering how to fly, but I can't. Drives me a little batty (raise your feet gently off the ground and push yourself up internally-pesky gravity keeps flouting me :P ).

Had a graphic dream llast night, I drive for a living mostly on rural roads.

In my dream I came over a small hill and there was a kitten trying to stand up, there was some blood but not much, I drove over him (straddled) and saw more small pets in the road, now I'm going down the road slowly and there are many dead cats and dogs.

I go over another hill and here are full grown pets, one caught my eye, a grey cat that was reaching for me, and quietly meowing and as it tried to stand up, it's belly filled up with all it's innereds, and it still kept meowing at me, and reaching.

Then I stopped, got out and could hear cries of pain in all directions....

Then I woke up......... when I have dreams like this I twich like crazy.

Even when I'm lucid dreaming and am rewinding, reliving, altering outcomes & shit I can't usually tell dreams from reality until I wake up. That one can alter reality is just a fact of life in Dreamland, like being able to replay a Videogame level, or turn on god mode & break physics is a fact of life, here. One can choose to play the game straight, or one can alter the parameters. One can choose to live life straight, or alter the parameters. I've lived whole lives in dreams, had dreams within dreams, can read & write in dreams, feel pain in dreams, it's as real to me when I'm asleep as the waking world is when I'm awake. Heck. For all I know I'm dreaming right now. I try not to let that bother me too much.
