Waking up with apocalyptic thoughts conquering my mind. I feel very powerless. I find it hard to get through, I need to get to my F* job tomorrow, and feeling like a wrack.

I cant do this, I cant, this is life???

I want to go home...I hate it, and writing like this I feel like a child, a weak adult. My brain knows why, but my emotions are all over the place.

There are some things on here I don't click because of the titles and it scares me such as this. I hope you feel better. There are enough support on here to get you through tough situations. I talk to this website more than I talk to human beings in person. I post on here so much that I become people coffee. You can inbox me if you want to chat.
 
trust me things can get better your going through the process. things do get worse before they get better..just do not lose touch with your feelings every one of them bad and good is teaching you about something

Hey Iamfree, yes! Thats the hardest part. To BE with all colours of your emotions. They have the tendency to overwhelm. We all know that. The rational mind gets switched off and the whole concept of your own self changes.
 
We all go thru this. When things are unleashed we get flooded with it all.
You are going to be ok. And you are a very strong woman. You have gotten this far. That takes courage and strength. You are both of those.
Doesn't feel like it. But feelings aren't facts.
You shared. That takes courage. If we could do this alone none of us would be here.
Memories are not more powerful than your want to heal.
You have a lot of support.

First off, you're ramping up your stress/anxiety level when you lard up "Waking up with apocalyptic thoughts [snip]. I feel very powerless. I find it hard to get through" with "I need to get to my F* job tomorrow".

Today is today, tomorrow is tomorrow. So... what are you doing/have you tried to manage waking up with apocalyptic thoughts today? Also, rationally... there are likely to be many thoughts that you will have today that will compete for your time and attention. Waking thoughts are not necessarily the ones you HAVE TO give your time and attention to. I had to learn how to "restart" my day when my mind was beset upon on waking to an assault of awful/negative/uncomfortable/fearsome thoughts. It is a good tool and can be learned. Also... factually, they say that people have many thousands of thoughts every day, some 10's of thousands and even like 30,000. I choose the ones I want to attend to... it is not the other way around.

What tools, strategies, coping skills do you have in your tool box to manage the thoughts you are having right now? Can you be open to the possibility that factually and rationally the thoughts you began with today are not necessarily likely to be the ones that you are stuck with and also that by the end of the day/evening there is the possibility that you can feel differently?

Waking thoughts are the best opportunity to practice management. 26-30 days becomes a new habit... 6 months a new behavior.

I usually distract with music, a walk, smells. Odours to change memory.I believe though, this was NOT enough for today Albatross.

Good rule of thumb... when your brain knows your emotions are all over the place switch hemispheres and shift toward rational/factual/problem solving. Staying with the assaulting thoughts/feelings ... well some do. I don't as I prefer my moods to be calmer, more peaceful and I don't volunteer to ride the rollercoaster of the emotional highs and lows but play from the center of the court. I also myth bust the thoughts and examine if they are fact based or just trouble inducing emotionally... then get down to problem solving mode, stress reduction.
