Not even close. CBT is a very broad term. EMDR is a CBT based therapy. EMDR is by no means, a quickie course and off you go. Even the bare basic CBT for anxiety and depression, general human behaviour, its usually around 50hrs theoretical and needs hundreds of hours implementation to truly master. Some people simply are not wired to the logic to deliver any CBT correctly. Being a therapist does not make you wired to truly understand how to manipulate a therapy on the fly based on what your client is throwing your way. Therapists are not created equal. Therapy techniques are a given. It is the deliverer, not the technique, that makes it good or bad.CBT is often delivered by someone who's done a course for a few weeks and is then allowed to deliver it
I guarantee if you got in a room with Dr Burns with CBT, he would have your brain twisting in directions and different ways to think, before you knew what hit you. 12 sessions with him, as an example, could be similar to a decade of sessions with someone who just doesn't get it.
