Hello everyone , been diagnosed with Combat ptsd for 10 years been through hell nerly lost my life countless times just wanted the pain to end , put my family through hell pushed my wife away thinking she would be better off with someone else who could give her the life she deserved, thankfully got her back last year but my heart is broken.
Managing myself better now though, got a war pension ,got a job and have the support of Combat Stress
and am on the right meds after trying countless other ones .
Been at the bottom and the only way thereafter is to look up , never thought id get through this and i cant believe im still here , still drink too much maybe but not as much as i used to , that wasnt the problem only a symptom havent found much help from the NHS side of things , walked out of two so called counselling sessions run by people who have the qualifications but until youve experienced ptsd i dont think you can possibly have any comprehension of the nature of the beast, just my opinion.
I served in the british army in sarajevo in 1995 and in kosovo in 2000 and have been a civvie now for 11 years.
