Site Upgrade

I'm going to upgrade this site in the coming days / week to the latest software version. The upgrade is quite significant bringing many new features and abilities for members to use.

Along with this, this site will be the test bench for all other sites. I'm left this site alone the most, thus it is running an old version of the software, to minimise disruption here. But the time has come... so this site will be the first to get the new style.

Accepting some issues that arise, I'm going to disconnect this site from the single sign on solution, hopefully reducing those without combat PTSD from simply coming across and using the site. Instead they would have to deliberately register here uniquely from the forum, which they currently don't have to do once registered at PTSD Forum.

I will try and minimise disruption here as much as possible, though there is a lot I want to do, some of which will get done whilst the site is running. For example, I will adjust the new style, do tweaks to it, all features will get turned off during upgrade, then progressively turned on one by one and checked, fixed, tweaked as required.

The upgrade brings responsive design to the site, which means you will be able to view a mobile version of the style automatically on your tablet / phone browser, without needing an app such as Tapatalk. I will leave tapatalk here as an option, even though it doesn't recognise the anonymous forum... as I have removed it on the other sites because of that.

When you see the changes occur, it will take me 24 to 48 hours to complete everything. After that point, tell me of any issues. Trust me, you won't miss the upgrade... you would have to be blind not to notice the coming changes.

The editor is a new style, responsive, and has autosaving drafts and such, so you don't lose posts ever again once you start writing them.

It brings more to the table for members, not less... so don't stress and enjoy the outcome.

Thanks Anthony. I did notice that when I tried to log on to directly to a post from an email link, that it wanted to download a file to my computer...

File Name: 0ONjTc5U

Contents of file:
<?php

$startTime = microtime(true);
$fileDir = dirname(__FILE__);

require($fileDir . '/library/XenForo/Autoloader.php');
XenForo_Autoloader::getInstance()->setupAutoloader($fileDir . '/library');

XenForo_Application::initialize($fileDir . '/library', $fileDir);
XenForo_Application::set('page_start_time', $startTime);

$fc = new XenForo_FrontController(new XenForo_Dependencies_Public());
$fc->run();

That's a XenForo validation error.

For PC:

My advice:

Check your firewall settings for this site. Often this error shows up because your firewall is in Nazi Mode.

If that doesn't fix it:

Make sure you OS is up to date. (I assume Windows, but if you are a Linux User you will need to google)

If using Internet Excrement...umm...I mean Explorer, make sure you are updated to the newest version.

Clear the cache on your browser. (Different for each browser, Google it.)

Clear your temporary internet files and cookies. (Easiest way is to use the freeware "CCleaner"

Run your Malware scanner. If you use McAfee, Norton, AVG or Symantec I suggest downloading and running a full "MalwareBytes" scan.

Manually update your machine, even if you have auto updates turned on.

Close your browser manually.

Manually disconnect your internet connection (via your OS or by pulling the plug on your modem/router.)

Restart the machine.

Reconnect your interwebs when Windows yells at you for not being connected.

If problem persists message me.

Mac Users:

Shoulda bought a PC unless you are an artists, photographer, or graphic designer. Sorry.

Heh, I am a Mac user.

I had fixed it because I could access the site :-). Just wanted to let you know, because of the upgrade and it was odd behavior.

The fix was.

Clear cookies.

Quit Firefox.

Restart Firefox.

After reading your post I also turned off Nazi mode on my firewall.

Thanks again

The current errors seen here are not anything that you can control right now... as stated in the first post, this site is running the oldest version of the forum software of all the sites, and thus has issues with some new upgrades being done at the server which aren't compatible.

Everything will be fixed in the coming days.

Ok... that worked. I did a minor upgrade of the backend system to correct the errors being shown. This is not the actual upgrade, I've merely upgraded to a more recent version for error correction, NOT the latest version.
