ART THERAPY 1.webp

This was the first one I did. It mostly expressed my emotions connected with my traumas.

"Wheeler" was my nick name back then. I was much happier and freer in this one. This expresses the way that life itself was healing me. Being out and about, climbing trees, riding my bike, going horse back riding, all these things I loved to do, and riding horses especially gave me such a feeling of power and strength. It is a very therapeutic activity.

I have a mental image of this one in my mind, of the actual experience, and I go to it often, if life distresses me. It is a very relieving experience to remember and think about when the need arises.

This is the last one I did.

Hi! I have been doing art journaling since I re started my life after the cult. Writting and drawing and painting, putting down on paper what was important for me everyday.
I don't look after a pretty piece, more like doing it without a trace of self expectations.
It has worked, and stiil does. It is the only think that makes me feel proud of the day. At lasr, I have taken something productive from an, generally, empty day

I remember once that when I was in the mental ward, we painted bird houses as Art Therapy. I picked out my favorite colors and painted away. I was there for a pretty serious situation in my life, one that the Medical Dr. and the Psychiatrist both were working on. I was working on it too, of course. And the Art Therapy really helped. I still have the bird house. It reminds me that an "unsolvable situation" or what seemed to have been one anyway, was indeed solvable.
