Kids lack impulse control. It’s not as developed as in adults.
I decided to test this. Here's what happened:
- Walked to the kitchen from the living room.
- Picked up an empty jam jar with lid that was rinsed out for the recycling,
- Walked to bathroom with jar.
- Took out two bottles from underneath the wash basin and opened them.
- Poured in the contents of the bottles into jar, quickly screwed on lid. Put bottles back under the basin.
- Walked to the front porch with chemical weapon jar.
- Put on jacket and shoes.
- Walked out front door with chemical weapon jar.
It took me only 2 and a half minutes to make a very dangerous weapon and set off to go use it.
Now, obviously I didn't actually make the real thing, or I'd have to call the fire department to dispose of the test jar. Which would not go over well with them I'm sure.
If I wanted to make a real one, I have everything I need here. I really could make this in 2 minutes with what's in my house right now.
If I were to want to use it for a large area, such as the inside of a school, or grocery store, movie theatre, ect, ect. I would need to make more than one. But even that is not time consuming. The longest part was finding the jar.
I had the impulsive desire to test if I could impulsively make a chemical weapon, in roughly the time someone who is reasonably competent with a firearm to grab the weapon load it and go.
It would seem that I can. I would say this is a viable alternative to a firearm, just as potentially deadly as one too.
