Actually, "mustache guy" was my husband, some 30 years ago now. That was the hair fashion then! LOL...
Notice that we both do look very happy in the photo. I only had that photo of us as a couple up there for an idea of dating, and I knew that folks would have some interesting comments about that mustache!

My wife and I met on classifieds.com way back in the 1990s. The year before, I had had some disastrous dates from meeting women by more traditional means. I figured I couldn't do worse! We only corresponded a few times by email before meeting in person. My wife remembers the emails, but I don't. I remember our first date, though, a walk along the C&O Canal outside of Washington, DC, in a gentle rain.

Oh how romantic! Sigh...

No... I cannot handle online dating. Hell I cannot handle inreallife dating lol....

Loved your experience @Friday. My boys did something a little similar but very enlightening too. Children are such meddlers really.

I keep thinking I will meet mr right somewhere real. My mother thinks this too and reminds me repeatedly 'don't worry mr right is out there somewhere right now.' I say.. "yeah he is mum... out there dead and buried....' She is from the generation where 'no woman is truly complete without a man". Oh dear! :wtf:

In the old days, we didn't even have a picture!

Given my earlier history of picking partners based on their ability to duplicate my mother's emotional distance, I think I would have done a lot better with an arranged marriage than my own early attempts. And some degree of randomness of the online experience was better than my subconscious sabotage.

Are you talking about the lonely hearts advertisements in newspapers?? I remember them... I remember one about... a woman and must have a boat?? :)

Oh me too. I should never have been given a choice. lol I guess if I was going to hate my husband it would have been good to blame somebody else besides me ha!!
