For the love of chickens

They are tilling 2 garden areas right now for me. I tried to make tuna casserole last night, yuck, but they enjoyed it. I love the fact that I used to get ants, like my neighbors do, and now I don't. No fleas either. Doc is at the back door again, yelling for me to peel her some grapes, lol.

LilLadee is a wonderful hen now! She lays about 5 eggs a week, is friendly and invites herself into the house whenever I'm not looking, lol. She likes to eat the dog food crunchies, but they are so big that I worry about her eating them. She enjoys the cat food too, lol. I ask her to leave right away, because I don't want chickens in the house. She also loves to get on top of things. She finally broke my old picnic table when she and Rooroo bounced on it too much. She also jumps up to eat the leaves off the nectarine tree. Bouncing chickens, lol. She is a happy, healthy, beautiful hen!.

I need to get pictures for everyone. Mr.M turned out to be a hen. Mini turned out to be a rooster. Interesting. My son says it's ok, since Mr.M is the name of a pokemon who can go from male to female, so it fits. I don't know about Mini. The other rooster I thought was a rooster may not be one. I named him Pansy since he was so un-rooster like, so now I know why, lol.

Well Leave it to LilLadee to be a bossy girl , and doing what she pleases. She thinks YOUR house is hers too !!! Gonna have to have a talk with that girl!! LOL... happy she is earning her keep by giving you eggs every week... and bouncing... lord what a character !!! She did turn out a pretty color... Tell her Aunt Ladee said for her to BEHAVE !!! Thanks for the updates hon, look forward to hearing about the 'feathered kids'..

My grandmother came from the old country (Lithuania) and so when my mom was growing up, they had chickens. By the time I came around though, sadly these chickens were no more. I don't know what happened to them, and both my mom and her mom are no longer with the living, so I can't ask!

I have a friend who has some Guinea Hens though. (I hope I spelled that right). I have a Guinea Pig, so we are always trading stories about our Guinea pets. She has to keep hers cooped at night, as there is a fox around. She puts a twisty tie on their coop every night to seal it. She says they eat all kind of things. I know one day she was bringing them some left over salad! I thought that was quite interesting.
