I’m probably dealing with a bad case of this. (Still being worked up.) Stress and PTSD symptom flares seem to make to worse. I’d like to know of anything that has helped anyone with any kind of stomach inflammation and/or acid reflux issues (besides controlling PTSD/stress symptoms.)

Yes,
-Extra strength Gaviscon 2-18 teaspoons/ day (2 if salt-restricted). I used first morning, before work, night +/or before bed; cut back to 2-3 times per day, 2 teaspoons each.
- No food but apple juice for blood sugar and if it's an ulcer/ exacerbated by an ulcer, or 1/2 apple juice+ 1/2 water
-soft bland food yogurt; Cream of Wheat seems to absorb acid. Bland diet in case it's pancreatitis (if pain goes through to back). Could only stand liquids the first 8 days or so.
-small bites, lots of chewing, small sips of quite cold water
-elevated head at night, I'm using 2 pillows with a folded robe in between
-Tums, up to 8/ day; use when feel it starting at work or wakes me up at night- Tums + water
-No coffee, which is easy because don't have appetite. Most relief comes not eating
-no or limited alcohol, no spicy foods unless you have reflux from too low stomach acid (you will know by how you react to introducing 1 or 2 slices of pickles, etc, and waiting for burning or feeling better). Mostly eating really simple or regret it and don't want to eat. Oh yes- baby cookies/ Arrowroot
-no citrus fruits/ juice
-no supplements
-no bending over if possible
-limited milk consumption in case
-warm bath
-pulling your posture up sitting- exaggerated lifting of shoulders; brings some relief and useful if it's complicated by a compressed thoracic disk
-no eating at night or at least stay up 3 hours after eating
-not eating or drinking anything that could produce gas: no beans or cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, cabbage), no carbonated drinks
-limited fiber in terms of little salads or veggies, in case it's intestinally induced. Raisins seem really bad. :(
-they say no chocolate ( ); similarly if it's intestinally related no nuts (pb and yogurt was fine later)

@Junebug - wow! great list! Thanks! Trying out a number of things you listed tonight and picked up a natural med mix that tastes like how I would imagine sour bird pee, but actually helps a little. Having Cream of Wheat for dinner... I can keep it down!

@EveHarrington - good idea! Right now, even water feels like a kick in the stomach. I cringe to even look at anything acidic or some types of dairy. I think I'm going to make a stress/food diary because I've noticed some types of body tension kicks it up to be about 10-20% worse. But, I can calm that down.

@Justmehere i am a regular at the gastro doctor unfortunately. I get gastritis, stomach ulcers, etc. I take a bunch of scripts but the one thing that really helps me is carafate. Not the pill but have them dispense the liquid. It tastes a bit chalky but gosh it does a great job of coating everything as it goes down. It kind of quietness thing.
Stay away from dairy, including yogurt. No ruffage, alcohol, greasy foods. The recommendation is for the BRAT diet; bananas, rice, applesauce, toast. Things like chicken noodle soup are good but not things you have to chew a lot on to digest.
Hang in there!

I reckon at least half the people in our trauma unit take esomeprazole. I gave up trying to manage it with diet after my first stomach ulcer. I’ve cut down to 20mg, but used to take 40mg.

It’s one of the few meds I take that doesn’t seem to have any side effects, and I no longer have to use antacid, so long as I steer clear of really strong curries and super-rich sweet foods (like cheesecake).

I have the pill, and it does help, not I didn’t know there was a liquid. That would be marvelous. I’m going to ask the GI doc for it tomorrow.

Hi,
I find it depends on the present severity. One of my best most tolerated options is pea soup or coconut water, bone broth at times. . Split peas too if you can be asked. If I am in a bad way then I will do frozen peas and water and nothing else. Blitz till totally blended. If not so bad then will add stock etc. Also worth checking for underlying conditions if you haven't done it before. Gastroscopy Hiatus hernia, Helio bactor pilori, Celiac, diverticulitus. etc. Sure you are ontop of this. Once its calmer I find drinking lot of water nb. Also careful with med taking, never ever ever have a mouthful or sip of anything acidic on an empty stomach. I find I need to knock from all directions and be proactive.

Yeah I can't take the pill. It gets hung up bc it is chalky. I love that they can dispense it in liquid. It's awesome. I take more than that but I find it helps the most. I take Dexilant too and sometimes Reglan. ...zofran for nausea.

I have GERD and take ranitadine and zophran. Helped out a lot. I was waking up aspirating on vomit.

I take (and am prescribed) what amounts to 4 daily doses of Prilosec, I believe it comes to about 80 mgs per day. It works really well as long as I remember to take it. Miss a day and it comes back as before. Don't put off getting treated though. I made that mistake and ended up with a pre-cancerous condition known as Barrett's esophagitis caused by the stomach acid eroding my esophagus.
