Cherryblossom,
You sound confused. Where did I now say I am researching? And you can ask Anthony where my first deleted post went to.
"Combatptsd1967, you have contradicted yourself by saying you want to
compare personal experiences with ptsd
and
to help change the inaccurate diagnostic code as it stands now, to prevent a life time of suffering in those who already suffer from ptsd
I'd like to know where you stand, are you just trying to compare experiences or are you trying to use our answers to launch a campaign to change the diagnostic criteria? It's reasonable to conclude it's necessary to compare experiences in order to change diagnostic critera. Which by the way, I do not profit from either. Many people are misdiagnosed, mistreated, and misunderstood when suffering from ptsd. I for one don't like being told by some psych that a symptom of our disease is the inability to have loving feelings. Or, a restricted range of emotions. people I know with ptsd love passionately, and react with passionate emotion under stress. It's illogical for mental health proffessionals to say a symptom of ptsd is avoiding anything that reminds them of the trauma.
If that is true, why do they write so many articles on trauma survivors repeating the trauma. If people with ptsd avoid anything that reminds them of the trauma, why does my vietnam vet husband watch war movies and documentaries daily? Why do I stay with him even though my ptsd is due to his abuse, which he is still abusive? Why does my daughter who has ptsd from abuse keep getting into abusive relationships if people with ptsd avoid anything that reminds them of the trauma.
PTSD is a physical neurological injury. And they know it! We're being lied to, and used as guinea pigs by the mental health field. Not by me silly. As you said, people are smart enough to know if they want to answer questions, or not. When the site closes or deletes a thread, that is not possible. And when they keep telling me to pay for it, as per your guide lines, when I am not a student or researcher, only someone intersted in helping the ptsd survivors who are being harmed, or going through a life time without an accurate diagnosis because mental health proffessionals don't even know our disease. Fact, they know that the brain damage can be prevented if the stress hormones can be lowered in the first six months after the life threatening STRESS, which is an automatic reaction, not a psychological one, permanent brain injury can be prevented. That can't happen if they don't know the accurate symptoms of our dis-ease.
Hello,
My name is Chris. My husband is a Vietnam veteran with ptsd. Our two adult children and I also suffer from ptsd. (due to his explosive, abusive, fits of rage that will injure anyones normal response to stress.) I'd like to learn more about ptsd, and how other people have been affected by it. The symptoms currently listed for ptsd don't seem very accurate to me. If you don't mind elightening me, I have a few questions I'd like to find answers for. Thanks for your help. I look forward to chatting with you soon.
