@Fahrenheit451 - Where I used to live we had 2 full-grown woodpeckers. One day, one of them attached to the screen that covered my deck and spread it's wings out. Scared the holy bleep out me as I had the door to the deck propped opened. Oy! They also liked to grab onto the coating on the window in front of my desk and spread their wings while looking in at me. OMG.... I'm a little weirded out by them now. They are so big and kind of ugly TBH. Not at all like your little cutie. ?

It's too cold for my body to venture out to sit with the trees as much as I'd like

I heard a great saying a while ago. “There’s no such thing as bad weather, only poor choices in clothing”.

I’ve found that sometimes the best times to be in the trees is when it’s really cold. Layer up, have a thermos of hot coffee (with a wee dram of whisky of course) and enjoy the silence.

Went to feed the ducks followed by a cream tea in a pretty cafe. Today there were mostly geese, coots, mallards, moorhens (and juvenile moorhens) and black headed gulls, which don't have black heads at this time of year apparently. With it being very cold and there being so many of them they were all very grateful for the food.
The sun came out briefly too.

Yeah....keep that mess over yonder, would ya', @Fahrenheit451 . lol Belle is so damn cute!

I think I'll look into getting more substantial quality layers to go outdoors in the winter. I wear a whole freakin' load of laundry as it is, but it's still cold, to me. Maybe I simply need to invest in better quality layers so I can wear less of them? I thought insulated coveralls would do the trick rather nicely, but that theory got shot all to hell as soon as I had to pee. lol

I think I've just grown used to the habitual routine of making indoors my proverbial comfort zone this time of year, like an ol' bear, but to be honest, it isn't all that damn comfortable when my heart longs to be outdoors. Time to retrain some neural pathways...again.

I love that shot of the ducks, @berlinda . So many! That inspires me to visit our local-ish park to pay a visit to the beautiful feathered friends that live there. Thanks to you both for the nature nudges. ?

I was looking through some old photos and I happened upon this one from back in 2015. This is Shell-e, the Russian tortoise I was pet sitting for a friend who kept her in her class room to teach the students all about her. Made me think of @shatter eyes and his turtle buddy. Prior to that day, I had no idea they had such huge claws...
