How do you ground yourself?

Perfume is the quickest thing for me.

Am trying to learn more grounding skills and apply em more too. Written down lots from here. I'm keeping a note on my phone saying which skill I tried, at what time / date, where was I? How did I feel after? And any difficulties I noticed.

Its helping.

When I make my lunch, I try to pack a lot of foods that are different tastes and textures: a cube of cheese, almonds, raisins, carrots, sliced peppers. When I eat my lunch, I pay attention to each food. What does it taste like? How does it feel in my mouth? What color is it? How does it's taste and feel change after I chomp into it? What noise does it make as I bite it?

On my morning walks with the dog, I remind myself of today's date and say to myself that this is the only Nov. 24 of 2018. And then I ask myself to describe the weather and what the plants look like. I try to see something that I've never seen before, even though I've been on this walk hundreds of times. With the leaves falling, I can see wasp nests and bird's nests that have been hidden in the leaves for months.

I ground with food. My go to is to ground with food. I attempt to ground with food. It is amazing. I am grounding with food.

Sometimes I have to keep repeating to myself the last thing I heard or the last thing that I read. That word was on my fridge door today. Usually if I repeat it 3 - 4 times while looking at it, I come back to the present.

I am so struggling with this it's terrible. I have slid down the downward spiral of grounding/numbing through food.

This is what I started doing. When I eat mindfully, I become satisfied.

Is there too much going on in your life? Is there something you can cut out until your symptoms are under control? You have made incredible progress, it's the nature of PTSD to spiral. May you be free from suffering.
