Does anybody want to join in being a routine buddy (“accountability” partner)?

Does anybody want to join in being a routine buddy? “Accountability” partner sounds a bit big stick like to me, though maybe that is just an association with a previous T that got angry at me when her one size fits all CBT didn’t work on me. I’m thinking more of just optional gentle encouragement for anyone that wants it.
I realise checking in is like a kind of CBT reminder device but I’m intending to just try to get in synch to get some structure that’s all.
I have had real challenges structuring my day and sticking to good sleep hygiene.

Maybe we could post check in updates for hitting marks in our schedule whatever they are. Eg
-went to sleep by _o’ clock ✅
-got up by _✅
-got exercise done
-meditated etc

Or any other suggestions for how to do it?

People being in different time zones is ok.

I’m not sure if this is posted in the right place, please advise if it should be elsewhere.

I have been struggling with this for ages. It would be great to sort it out next year.
I was just trying to figure out how i could keep in touch and chat with people so YES PLEASE!! hope you are well Actualise

Argh! My diabetes is out of control yet again. I won't bore you with the details but my doc is making a mess of it. I have to change my goals to one huge one - getting it under control. That breaks down into:

1. taking cbg every morning when I wake.
2. writing down everything I eat when I eat it.
3. Eat mindfully.

These aren't SMART goals, however they are really doable. I've noticed that when my sugars get really high, I cut out all carbs until they stabilize and then lose track again. This time I'm eating the allowed carbs and hoping I don't get into the cycle again. Writing down everything one eats makes one really mindful.

@DharmaGirl -2&3 I find challenging but sounds like you will smash it out. Hope you can get your diabetes sorted soon.

I myself am stressed right now, loads going on so I am kind of eating self indulgently or maybe just unmindfully.

I’m heading over to the prayers thread. Please send me good energy for my situation tomorrow. I’ve got a doctors exam. Not met this dr before and not sure about him..

Sending you all energy to get you through what you’re working on⚡🙂⚡
Talk in a few

3.do aerobic exercise for 40 minutes 6 days a week (I will update this goal if different guidelines are recommended)5/6
4.get at least 20 minutes sun/daylight on my eyes to set my circadian rhythms every morning3.5/7

8.read from a hardcopy book before bed every night4/7
9.give thanks for all the great things that have and will come every night0/7
10.switch off the light for sleep by 10pm every night2/7

I got quite stressed toward the end of the week due to a doctors exam and my goals dropped off a bit there.

I want to find out more about dreams. I think there is something in them. I will probably check out some Jung stuff. Does anyone know much about this?

How did you all go with your goals?

@TruthSeeker thanks for the tips on notes that sounds like nifty. There is also the reminders app on iPhone which I have tried. I always just hit up notes as catch all for anything I want to jot down though, including to do lists.

So I’m treating today as the start of the week. I’m keeping a tally next to my goals. At latest, next Saturday or Sunday I will check back in to to see how I went and gear up for another week.
All welcome to check back in to see how you went too.
Of course when you start your week is up to you, you decide. When you start your year is also up to you, every second/ moment/ “now” is the start of a new year. So people are always welcome to drop in 😊
Here are the things I want to work on between now and May. A check in could be motivational if I came here and reported back weekly.....so I'd like to give it a go.
Here are my goals:
1. Call 2 schools about employment opportunities by Jan. 15, 2022 and if a position is available, ask for more information on the positions and consider the possibilties of going back to work.
2.1 Eat 3 meals/day and no more than 1200 calories a day of pre-portioned, pre-cooked healthy food to be evaluated daily using a checklist.
3. Lose 10 lbs by March 15, 2022, and re-evaluate for a new goal when successful.
4. Complete aerobic exercise in any form for a minimum of 1 hr, 4 times a week through May 2022..
5. Attend 4 different in person classes to help improve social skills, increase knowledge, or creative interests by May 30, 2022
6. Draft a budget for the new year and stick with it, as measured by a monthly record keeping system and monthly expenditure review through May 30, 2022.
8. Make medical appointments for cancer check, audiologist, bloodwork, pneumonia shot, and shingles vaccination by January 31 and follow through on all appts.
9. Finish organizing my space to fit my needs and comfort by May 30, 2022, measured by self-observation of the spaces.
So, today is January 23. I got derailed by a large medical bill. Putting in apps for a short-term job, haven't been to therapy in a month....vacation and snow issues.....
Filling out applications is a pain, and very time consuming for someone whose worked 30 years. I don't know where my old resumes are, and the retirement system isn't in their office because of Covid, and so one application seems to be quite a chore.

Classes: I do a sculpure class next weekend....Sat and Sun. and then start a Spanish Zoom class (this has much less appeal on Zoom)......but I know the gal running the class. No budget, trying to make medical appts but Medicare won't pay for my current doctors.....all of them have to change, and haven't organized squat. It's a hard time of year...no sun.....really cold...blah......no T for 4 weeks....and financial issues with medicare and medical. I turned 65 and now the gov. makes me feel old and worthless because I get shit medical care paying the highest supplemental premiums...... So, I did one big thing-looked for a job, and I worked from home-and revamped some things that need update publishing. Will go to the fitness center tomorrow and get back on track with diet starting tomorrow.

@TruthSeeker that’s a lot to deal with. I can understand you being challenged. Just thinking of work makes me very anxious. Absolutely that’s more than I can handle, right now at least. Re bills, yes that is worrying. I too have worries about this. That was a stressor for me this week dealing with the medical examiner.
You’re still doing stuff so you’re still in there. Wishing you the best for this week🙂

Thanks....told myself I'd go to the pool yesterday......wrote a poem instead (they generate money and give me a sense of accomplishment) so that was productive. Set my alarm to go to water aerobics this morning....made it, ate lunch (missed breakfast), got on scale....lost a pound 😁 -which gave me more motivation to follow through on aerobics, took a shower. ......I think the fact that there is less sun, and it's cold is making things harder....plus there is the fact that I haven't been to T in 4 weeks -snow and vacation.....that also isn't helping. But yes, I am moving.....that's going in the right direction....forward. Thanks.....helps to keep perspective....bills....they are real stressors.

@TruthSeeker sounds like you’re going in the right direction 👍.
I am trying to get back on track with my goals and get some things I have to do done too. Sometimes it feels like I’m walking through an aqua aerobics class all the time.

Re writing poems - and getting paid for them - so intriguing! There are so many people who want to make a living from writing creatively! Sounds amazing!

When a poem is well-said, and ends just right....so very satisfying!

Yes, gripping on to the side of the wagon, feet dragging last week.. I was a bit anxious about something and put stuff aside to deal with it.
Please give me energy to get back on top of stuff!

Hope everyone else tracked as well as you wanted and can manage at the moment.

Have a good upcoming week everyone.

Week 1 goals:

So, consider changing a few things......

Look at what you are doing best....
meditate on waking every day.......consider combining your meditation time and graditude time.....so you give thanks prior to meditating. Giving thanks doesn't require a lot of time.....so you could tick off both on your list first thing in the day.....you got 2 done.

So, here's how I'm doing:
#1. I am successful with this goal...I contacted 2 school systems about employment and have considered the possibilities of going back to work....
Work goal #2. I will send off 1 application this week.

#2 & 3...my weight is stable....but not drastically losing. Need to give this a little more attention.

#4. Aerobic Exercise...last week was a bomb....only made it to one class. This is a new week. I've been to 1 and 1/2 water aerobics classes today and feel great. I have plans to meet up with someone who will also be there Wed and Friday for motivational support. A buddy system is helpful in the cold weather....It's hard to get out in the cold.

#5l Attend in person classes to improve social skills: I start Spanish conversation class tomorrow which was supposed to be in person-but was changed to Zoom because of Covid..... It is supposed to last 3 months, so it should go back to in person-hopefully within a month. Don't know how a Spanish class will work on Zoom with my hearing impairment-but it's not the in-person class I had planned to do. Sculpting class was supposed to be this last weekend...but it snowed and has been rescheduled. ;( So, a no....but the excuse is not for lack of trying.

#6. Nope, haven't gotten to making the budget, but the tax papers are nagging at me and it's time consuming, so I have 2 projects to complete, and the taxes and budget are officially in line once the application and a writing project I am working on are complete.

#7. I got the pneumonia shot. I just came eligible insurance wise for my annual skin cancer check. I plan to get the other appts made this week.

#8. I got started organizing things, so that I can make a space and clean it upstairs. This project comes after my budget and taxes and it's the lowest priority.
