I bizarre triggers...men with beards, especially pink ones,
I apologize for making light of this, but I have a very dark sense of humor. There was a word between these two clauses but no comma so the above is totally how I read this.
I thought, "Wow, she must have grown up near Haight-Ashbury too!"
:P
Weirdest: Food Lion grocery stores. It's an absolute non sequitur in reference to my trauma. We didn't have Food Lions and we kids rarely went grocery shopping. It's so certain that we've had to switch stores though. :(
Cat pee. Another non sequitur. We didn't have pets. I think I figured that one out last night, though. that one has triggered me for years but I didn't realize it. I thought I was just violently allergic to it.
Maine accents. Another mystery until recently.
Church. I kind of understood this but didn't realize I had two specific reasons for church-associated tension. One was religion itself, I've known that since I was a kid. Recently I've recalled incidents actually at physical church buildings, however. Awesome.
Those are the very oddball triggers. There's plenty of "duh" triggers, too many to name.
