Today we have to set the clocks back. It will be dark at five o clock. I hate this time of year. We have our dinner at four thirty pm because it is still light.

I hate it when it gets dark so early. I am taking vitamin D and I got two daylight bulbs to help me.

I hate the hassle of changing the clocks.

In the spring as a practical joke I set all of the clocks ahead on Friday I was so excited about having light longer.

One thing I am glad about is that we do not live in the shadow of the mountains anymore. We usually lost out sun about two o clock.

I am glad we are where we get more sun. I hope it is another mild winter.Does anyone else have a problem with daylight savings?

Any tips on making it better would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Absolutely, I can't stand less daylight. I feel so bad for my dog because at least two work days a week I get home when it's dark and we have to take just-the-bare-necessities walks.

I've picked up a lot of old lace panels over the years at Goodwill. I've put them on the winds, then, a more private fabric over them. That way I can knot the fabric and let more sunlight in through the lace.

I try to get up earlier in the dark so I have time to wake up and really take advantage of what little light we have.

By the way, does anyone get nasty side-effects if they take a straight vit D tablet/capsule? I've not tried that yet and was curious?

I am going to try vitamin D this winter and see if it helps. I can pretty much guarantee I will be cranky by the end of January and all of February. I am NOT thrilled at it getting dark so early in the day. We still have 7 weeks before the days begin to get longer. Argh! I can feel myself beginning to hibernate already. I need to look into an all-spectrum light and hope it will help, too. I have enough to be depressed about going on...
:(

The daylight hours begin to get longer on the 22nd of December, and become noticeable on the 6th of January.

Having bright colours about your home helps too. light coloured curtains to reflect more light around the room. Yellow flowers even if they are artificial, and keeping as warm as you can helps too.

Hopefully no one will have a bad winter.

One thing I've noticed helps me is to get in the sun and turn my face to it directly for ten to fifteen minutes a day. Even if it's through a window or in a lobby or something. I try to let the light fall directly on my eyelids, and I think about it flooding my brain with light.

The way the light helps, as I understand, is it stimulates serotonin production in the brain. So I try to think happy thoughts while I'm doing this. Sometimes I'll park my car so that the sun is shining directly on me, and I'll sit for a few minutes in the nice warm car.

I don't know- we have it easy. We live in the South, so it's not that hard to find some sun most days, even when it's cold.
