P.S. (forgot to add)... situations will change, and perhaps there will be a time when a service animal is in your future. I made due with animal rescues and shelter pets... and there are benefits in caring for an animal. Your post made my day.

Thank you, Albatross. I still wish very much I could get a service or therapy animal now, but that would not do me or the pet justice. Luckily, I am fortunate enough to be able to also work with children, which gives me immense joy. I think being able to work with 'my' kids can help me maintain a small balance in emotions until I am able to have a pet to help me when I'm home and in public (I hope that makes sense).

I know kids are an absolute joy, I'm actually getting a service dog because I'm due late this year, and I want to make sure that no harm comes to the little one due to my 'out for 5 min' brain.

I'm really glad that you have a strong handle on your symptoms that you are able to work, especially with children, so I'm really proud of you. I know I'll get back to work one day, but in the mean time, I enjoy reading stories like yours.

Thank you, Bubzilla. I feel fortunate that I am able to work with kids. I think I show different symptoms when around kids, though, because I am incredibly protective of them. It's a starting point for me to begin working on myself. I look forward to the day that I can get a service animal so that I feel secure in my home and outside in public when I don't have kids around to distract me. Every time I help a child feel loved and safe, I feel a part of myself healing in some way. You'll get back to work one day, don't worry. :hug:
