Eft Very Effective For Me

There are older posts on this board regarding EFT - so didn't open them up again as I wasn't sure whether I should or not but I have worked with an EFT healer for some time and am very well versed in using it now to help myself. It has helped me progress very far.

At one time I needed my healer to be present as I could not do it on myself in case I panicked. I am just interested as to whether anyone else has used this modality and whether it has been effective for them.

I am happy for you! Every tool helps.

I'm still hoping that it may be helpful for me, someday. So far, it hasn't helped me, with increasing my ability to be associated, while feeling threatened or triggered. It was helpful that you shared, that it took finding the right healer. Thanks.

Yes. It is more effective for me than EMDR was. I suspect some of it works on the exposure therapy principle - but the ways in which I have achieved integration of some of my memories is astonishing to me.

I wish there was good science to back it up; but I cannot deny that for me it is proving to be effective. I agree with you about the quality of the practitioner. Mine works in all the common trauma modalities and is ridiculously good at his job. I'm grateful for him. His preferred modality is EFT, but uses it and EMDR most often, exposure next, and CBT/DBT in conjunction with everything.

I also had it work quite quickly for me. I'd say anyone should give it a shot; it's very non-invasive and if it helps, you'll know right away.

It is called the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). http://www.emofree.com/eft-tutorial/tapping-basics/scripts.html is a pretty good place to start. It is a form of energy work that is like acupuncture without the needles. So if you are not much into believing energy work this may not call to you. Also known as tapping, you tap on specific meridians while making a statement about an 'issue' that you may have.

I do not encourage those of us with deep trauma issues to work on ourselves (I have never been a proponent of the scripts they put out there as people with big issues may wander into territory that they didn't know existed). Gary Craig is the founder and has done a very good job in so many ways - however I believe there is some bad press out there about him as he has put up general scripts that people can use and the tool is very powerful - therefore it is as I stated above, a bad thing to do for people with trauma issues. And realistically there are a ton of people out there that don't know they even have been traumatized.

So yes, if you have a practitioner that is good at what they do they will incorporate eye movement (like EMDR), they will have you speak, thus activating your hearing. This is especially good to 'reboot' the senses and remove you from the emotional response that the senses tend to get stuck into. So the idea is that it allows you the memory without the horrific emotional attachment to it.

I must stress again however, that it is important to get a practitioner who is well versed in EFT. The statements incorporated in a tapping session are very specific.

Karl Dawson also does an EFT on 'crack' version called Matrix Re-imprinting and a video on Youtube if you are interested. It is fascinating to watch.

I had a therapist teach EFT to me and it helped a little bit. It is a good coping technique to have in your basket, but I don't get a lot of relief from it. It certainly cannot hurt to learn it and see if it helps you.

I was always interested in EFT. Is it done by a therapist or psychologist? There having a weekend retreat this summer and I was thinking about going. I sounds interesting.
