If You Could Take Away Some Of The Ptsd What Would It Be ?

in fact all the child abusers!
That's a really wonderful one! I bet, we would be astonished, after the abusers would have disappeared, how empty the world has become! Because I simply think with sexual, physical (violence against children) and verbal abuse, I'd say at least one third of worlds human population had been gone... BAM! No more fear and pain, for every child in the world! :) :):)

PTSDs existence. But if I have to choose...

The non-stop adrenaline rush (thanks to a cocktail of ptsd meds, it's gone down tremendously)

Not being functional at all

The constant reminder that my parents are sociopaths who have never loved me and never will

Not being able to work because of the severity of flashbacks

The fact I need a service dog so I can graduate from college because my PTSD is so bad

I'd get rid of it all.... But, as to not bore anyone, I'll just say one aspect....

I would get rid of my startle reflex. Why do I say this? Because it is the one thing that I can't control, it is the one symptom that has a mind of its own. And, it seems to be getting worse. This includes not being startled by loud noised (hello, fireworks!) and by other people. Someone can just be standing in the room and if I walk in and simply notice them there, but did not expect them to be there, I will react. Its the one thing I can't just 'coping skill away' lol.

My relationships are improving, my social life is improving, I am becoming more functional, my sleep is better and if it gets worse, I know I can fix it. Pretty much all of my other symptoms can be managed with coping skills and such, but my startle reflex itself cannot. I can do things to manage the impact afterward, but I can still be thrown into horrendous dissociative episode. So yeah, do away with this one symptom and I'll be a lot better off!

Of all the things you listed the two that stand out the most are:
Not so much that people hate me, but they don't like me
Always feeling like I have done something wrong. I seem to always be waiting for the other shoe to drop, and my boss, or anyone coming up and telling me I have screwed up again. I hate this.

Thank you so much for all the replies, I can relate to 99% of them !. We all have so many affects from things from our past present and future to deal with it just gets so hard at times, that's when we need each other on here to help each other, we are much stronger as one and we all have a long and winding road ahead of us with many potholes to fall into and uphill climbs, but remember when you are faced with a pothole or a hill just think of going down the other side, with help we will all get better with dealing with our symptoms and hopefully much stronger to deal with the rest of the world.

Take care

Sammy
