Bum Wiping & Wet One's Aka Moist Towelette's

I tried them for giving my PTSD Service Dog a bath, because she hates the tub so. (She's a mini-dachshund and I think the water coming up around her back and the fact that she cannot escape the tub is what causes this).

I've used them for awhile now. One day I was having a heck of a time getting my TP to do its job and it occurred to me.... Been using them ever since!

Headlines in my local newspaper says the 6 billion dollar a year bum wipe business in causing 6 tons (a bus size) of material that is clogging sewer lines to be blocked in New York, causing sanitation workers to set traps to track whose homes they are coming from so they can plead with them to stop flushing their bum wipes. UMMM. Im addicted to bum wipes, I cant quit, I will need a 12 step group to overcome Im certain. I thought headlines should have read-BUM-WIPES CREATE MORE U.S. JOBS. LOL

I just read an article in the paper about adult wipes and how they were costing city works departments millions a year because they aren't biodegradable and they clog the sewer system. They have to go in and clean them out. There was a picture from NYC of a guy doing so. They claim some cities have installed baskets in the sewer to help catch and alleviate the issue. Lol. Funny topic!

On momentary serious note: If you use bum wipes, please use biodegradable ones or use a diaper pail to throw them away. If you have ever had your sewer system back up into your house you would understand why I'm asking this (I have had to clean up after an unrelated sewer backup (tree roots)). Personally, I'd hate to have it happen to me again, and I'd feel pretty bad if I contributed to it happening to someone else.

Now back to the humorous aspect of the thread.

I give my dog baths with them as she HATES going into the tub, and I sometimes wipe her bum with them too. I use the waste basket for them though, knowing full well that they clog toilets too, as my dad was a plumber and told me they do.

**If you are out of the diaper stage, these work great for cleaning up messy hands and faces when you are on the go. You can also use this mixture to re-wet purchased baby wipes!
Great idea, it is so annoying when the wipes I keep in the car dry out. A good alternative to just throwing them away.

You know why... you took the test, didn't you? Wipe your bum as many times with toilet paper, then use a wet one, and see just how dirty your bum still was!

It's all true... I'm converted. I hate it when I don't have them when going away, i.e. forgot the travel pack or such. My bum feels dirty when I only use toilet paper, nowadays.

@anthony I mean why would we not get flushable ones? It makes no sense. The increased liklihood of contact with the caretaker alone (by throwing it in the trash) should be enough to switch to flushable ones. I shudder to think how much of our waste is friggin non-flushable wet wipes.

My Ma was widowed at fifty four, and was diagnosed thirteen years later with breast cancer, necessitating a daily visit to a far away hospital for radiation treatments for five weeks. As my brother and I could not go with her everyday, arrangements were made with the Canadian Cancer Society for volunteers to take her. Imagine her and our surprise when one of her drivers turned out to be a gentleman she had known in the glory days of being a waitress in her family owned series of greasy spoon restaurants in and about downtown Toronto when she was in her twenties. While not exactly kosher, he did express interest in connecting with my Mom once her treatments were finished. We were thrilled, she was less so. The romance never started. Her reason?

"I have washed enough brown spots out of underwear."
