Otc Meds

you could google "herb interaction with Geodon
Or talk to a pharmacist. I mean this more if you decide to take an OTC sleep med like Unisom; pharmacists probably aren't trained in herbs. Recently I was helping a friend find whether two medications she was considering interacted with each other and it was harder than I expected to find a reliable online source on interactions. Unless anyone knows of one?

I wish I had something right now. I haven't slept since Tuesday. And now a massive headache. And a new client starting tomorrow at nine. Gotta be articulate and not trembling.

I feel better today. I slept for an hour last night. I'm at a crossroad here. Been taking anxiety and sleep meds for years but I want to get off them. Plus what effect does changing meds have in the therapy for PTSD? Do I stop working out my trauma history while I adjust to something more holistic? What will that do to me? Waiting it out not working in therapy, needing sleep in order to work and function. I feel really conflicted-the known vs. perhaps a better plan.

I wish there was a crystal ball. I think you have to do the experiment if you want to change...:(

So you want to stop your medication ( that has been researched) and replace it with untested herbs? I would suggest a better idea might be to have a review of your existing medication with your doctor so that it becomes effective again.

@Lucycat my psychiatrist sees that I'm using extra Xanax and he doesn't want me to be on a higher dose, so if it's not working as weak as in the past, then maybe it's time to consider change. I also have Multiple Chemical Sensitivity for which Xanax helps lessen my reactions to fumes. Wouldn't want to give that benefit up. Reactions are severe and debilitating with asthma and brain fog. Just beginning to explore the possibilities.

I get that it is currently ineffective. But you are on both Ziprasidone and Alprozalam yet you are having racing thoughts. I can understand that your psychiatrist is not wanting you to take extra as you are already on drugs that have a moderate interaction when combined. Surely it is the job of your psychiatrist as the professional to recommend appropriate and safe treatment for you.

My concern is when people find medications for themselves, but also continue to take 'just a little bit' of whatever has been (perhaps previously) prescribed. It can be a lethal combination if it goes wrong. By all means find out what others may have found helpful, but please do speak again with the psychiatrist before trying them for yourself.
Take care.
