General How Well Do You Sleep, As A Supporter

Had insomnia all my life. Since I started the relationship with my guy, I decided it was time I started exploring some options to get better rest. I tried a few things but settled on mirtazapine. Works like a dream most nights. Helps me to deal with anxiety - his and mine - as well.

I'm a raging insomniac, and erratic work schedules don't help. I tend to keep my vet company at night because we are up and down a lot, sometimes together, sometimes alone. When my vet is up and down more, I'm up and down more for sure. I sleep better with him than without him though.

I found out that I had sleep apnea a few years ago and got a CPAP. It helps my quality of sleep a lot, but doesn't help the quantity. I've lost quite a bit of weight though, and have to do another sleep study to see if I even still need it.

I don't sleep well, and my Marine doesn't sleep well either. So, he wakes me up when he moves and talks in his nightmares, and then I wake him up with my tossing and turning. We're probably better off sleeping alone, but I enjoy the closeness of being next to him in bed, and I like to think his going to bed next to me is a sign of his growing trust in me. I sometimes wonder if I sleep even lighter than normal next to him because I'm worried he'll do something to me at night. You read all those stories about women who wake up being choked or hurt by their combat PTSD man...

I'm still managing to sleep pretty well even though things have taken a turn for the worse again. I used to struggle with sleep if I had a lot on my mind, especially when I was younger. I was able to learn to block out thoughts that kept me up, and get good sleep. I think that skill has come in handy now. I'd be in a world of hurt if I was sleeping poorly on top of everything else going on.

@Sweetpea76 - I hear you girl! My vet has not been sleeping well at all for the last week or so which means neither have I. When he's awake and I'm not he wanders around, opens curtains, turns on lights, talks to the dog, talks to ME! When I'm awake and he's not I sneak out of bed, tiptoe to the loo int he pitch dark, slide back into bed holding my breath... Sigh! This morning I was woken with "What time is it honey?" 4 freakin am sweetheart - 4 freakin am...

@Sighs I have to be in and out of bathroom quick enough not to lose my place. Once I'm out of his arms for more than a few minutes, he rolls over to his side and crosses his arms, locking me out for the night. Sometimes he let's me spoon him, but like just a few minutes ago, I get the "no" grunt. I prefer the couch on nights like this.
