Myers Briggs Types

That is interesting Saelben.

My T doesn't believe in he MB personality types, as personality in her opinion is more complicated than a test shows. I thought that was interesting too.

I still believe personality characteristics are stable over time, regardless of life events, but maybe I'm wrong.

I did a few of these personality tests recently and have mixed opinions about them. I'm either INFP or ISFP, the second letter being within a point or two.

But I don't think this tells the whole story. As FridayJones pointed out, there are extroverts who are so shy they appear introverted, and vice versa. And a bunch of degrees in between. I have extreme social anxiety, so spend most of my time alone or with a few people I know well. But I wish I could be more social. I ache because I can't be. And then there are things the test questions ask that I knew I would have answered differently if not for the trauma that conditions me to act in certain ways. So who knows... I take the whole thing with a grain of salt.

ESFJ

Aside from being 71% extroverted, all the others are just a few percentage points above half. 53%, 51%, and 56% respectively.

I would have said I was an introvert, but since the description includes chores like cooking and working on the car, I guess I can see it. I do a lot of fix it projects; put down a new floor in the kitchen, wood restoration projects, put up a ceiling fan a few days ago, installed an after market radio in my car, etc.

Interesting!

INTJ.

meyers-briggs tests btw are just letter codes for groupings of cognitive functions from jung's cognitive functions theory. online mbti tests only define vague qualities of each function, so they're not very accurate.

the names of each letter are also misleading. being a thinker vs a feeler for example doesn't mean one is smarter or more emotional than the other, it just has to do with how one processes data. introversion vs extroversion is just internal or external energy source, not related to social interaction style (though it correlates) or shyness.

i see mbti as fascinating and interesting but like astrology, pretty useless in terms of real life. everyone has various qualities spanning all of jung's cognitive functions and it's impossible to box all human beings so rigidly. but i still try to type people and read all about my fake personality, c'est la vie.

most self-identified INTJs are seriously embarrassing, anyway. "what are we going to do tonight brain? the same thing we do every night, try to take over the world!"

I was looking up the description of my personality type on different sites. Some are way off base and some I would agree with wholeheartedly. One I found, same as @Justmehere linked in the OP, (http://www.personalitypage.com/ESFJ.html ) was really accurate. I'd say 90% agreement.

But when I got to these sentences, "All ESFJs have a natural tendency to want to control their environment... ESFJs should be careful about controling people in their lives who do not wish to be controlled." It was like being struck by lightning! This is something that I am very aware of and careful about with my guy. Even so, we still sometimes get into tiny power struggles with each other and I know they could blow up one day in a major way if I push too hard. He's an older man set in his ways, was a leader in the Army for 14 years, his ex-wife was a manipulative and vindictive psychopath and when he got away from her he relished being in charge of his own life again, let alone the PTSD...yeah, he's not one to be bossed around.

I'm gonna email him the quiz...but he probably won't take it. Gah! LOL If he does, I'll post his results, too.
