Hey Jagged Angel, even if this were a US forum, you'd be welcome! It would be a shame to take a positive effort on Anthony's part and try to make it into something negative wouldn't it?

This actually is a US forum... it was always intended to be US focused due to the US having such a large issue with PTSD. It was anticipated that all English countries can partake, with now the extension into 52 languages uniquely, though always setup with the US as the primary focus, regardless of my physical location.

I am working on a new primary style at present which will get released on the forums 5th birthday on 6th Sep 2010; all I can say is that its pretty eye catching!

I can see it and it is very impressive so far.....

I enjoy the holiday graphics and, from a purely cultural interest, will look forward to all the major holidays being represented from different cultures as they arrive on the scene. For example, I have no idea what ANZAC is or its significance so I will learn something new. As far as making decisions about which holidays go up on the site, at this point, I look at it as owner discretion. Anthony and Nicolette do all the hard work and foot the bill so I figure I've got no right to gripe.

A heart felt thanks. I wanted to address the negative statement made earlier, but could not find words that did not sound confrontational. You stated my feelings perfectly. Again, I say Thank You for addressing what I felt was a rude and unnecessary post. I'm sure we are not the only 2 who felt that way

I said it earlier and want to say it again...thank you! Not just for the 4th of July motif, that is nice and cheers me, but for this form as a whole. I really appreciate it. I am amazed at how reading, writing and conversing about my condition has helped. Even your blunt response to a question I asked you was much needed and appreciated! If you never put up anything american and only posted Australian emblems....I'd still be here and be deeply indebted to your hard work!

Hi Jagged, what you say is already in motion as outlined on the blog entry allowing all members to request specific styles: [DLMURL]http://www.ptsdforum.org/entries/422-Request-Your-Special-Styles[/DLMURL]. St Patricks Day for example is an Irish holiday, and had its own style. Whilst ANZAC day and others are on the list of styles to do; the problem is my time to get them done. I wanted to get one done for ANZAC day and Memorial Day, however; I was not the best at that time, thus it didn't occur.

Thank you for responding, and letting me know that holidays from other cultures are actually a consideration.

To those people who think my posting was rude and unnecessary - I do appreciate what Anthony does for all of us on this forum. I am very grateful that it is here at all. I also feel that we shouild be able to express how we feel about the things like how the forum looks, particularly if it has the potential to alienate people. In the past I ahve praised Anthony for being very inclusive of people from different backgrounds (like when the translation tools were being discussed), which is why I felt disappointed that what I was seeing ehre was the marginalisation of everyone who is not from the US, simply because we are in the minority.

I was not trying to turn something good into something negative, I just wanted to point out how being US-focussed could alienate others. As it happens, Anthony has responded by saying that holidays from other cultures are a consideration - which I was not aware of. It was not necessary to have a go at me for my lack of knowledge on the wider issue, or for my percieved rudeness simply because I felt that the forum was not being inclusive.
