A Question.

Hi,
This is overwhelming and I am not certain but, I feel like I should step away and look more carefully at what I am attempting here.
That said, did many of you find that you were triggered when you first came here to myptsd?

Yeah, this whole place is sort of exposure theraphy

:hug: But once you breach some barriers, it gets better. Thats why there is this sentence going around "It gets harder before it gets better"

And it will.
The fear of re experiencing, it just too much at this moment..has me in knots, complete fight or flight mode.

Firstly a warm welcome to the forum @Chimera and I send a virtual Internet_:hug: from the UK if you accept it.

Yes is the basic answer to your question, when all members first come to this site or in fact any on line support site for PTSD it is the very first and bravest step any of us will ever take. It is the realization that we are not alone in our traumatic sufferance, literally that !

We have all suffered in abject silence for way too long prior to coming to a site like this and it is overwhelming for all of us.

Be gentle with yourself and please do not try and run headlong into this, you need to be gentle and caring for you and no-one else.

I've decided not to read so much on the site. Just going to slow down and try to get familiar with this place.

Are there things on the forum that will trigger you? Yes, but the big difference between this forum, and other websites is, the understanding that goes with the triggering.

We have all been there, and know what you are experiencing. So you can talk it out, find solace from the shared experiences, and come to realize you are not alone in all of this.

The beauty of this place, and the sadness at the same time, it's filled with badly hurt people who understand the pain well.
