A Smile...What Makes It For You?

The thing I like about this thread is that "a smile is infectious" it doesn't matter who is smiling at what, all of it makes you smile when you read it.

How many of you are smiling right now and thinking about things that make you smile - I know I am and it feels GREAT!!!!

I have had a rotten day BUT reading this thread has made it all melt into oblivion.

I have a "smile on my dial and stars in my eyes" ... thank you all for helping to end my day on a SMILE.

And hey Fin right back at you ... keep shining !!!

Just had to add

Yes Fin the Pretenders - great band and love the song too, it also brings back some lovely memories of carefree dancing (still do it though usually around the house).

We all should try to do more of what makes us smile and laugh.

Wow, there are a lot of things that make me smile. A lot of your posts do fin :-) and I'm not kissing butt either LOL.

When both of my children were born healthy.
When I know I have made someone feel better either mentally or physically.
Seeing my daughter play.
Seeing my husband smile.
Knowing my son is one of the smartest people I know that is related to me.
Realizing I'm the strongest person I know (in real time) who has lived a life of hell and just keeps going, with the belief I am going to get well.

This is what I belive also kaydee:

And this is what I had hoped for when I created it, thankyou;

It is these things, these smile's, these positive moments, that we need to keep coming back to, that I believe when we are down and "in it" will help us. And if we can keep coming back to them, they will hopefully start to begin to even the score a little with the negative.

It is trying to have something in reserve, something that we can help to find solace in. And if we aren't inputting it, then we can't draw from it. And if no-one is positive inputting to us, I believe we need to be able to do it for ourselves. And I believe we can. And I hope this is a place where we can start.

I could not have said it better myself, I have spent so much time reading the problems (you know what I mean) and forgot about the balance we all need.

The positive stuff is SO IMPORTANT, it is nice to do the everyday things, smile, laugh, share.

You have hit the nail on the head with this thread and I for one applaud you.

What makes me smile:

  • A friendly face, unexpected
  • Many of the Frasier shows...their crazy, nerdy antics
  • My cats doing acrobatics and being so ferocious and zippy
  • Watching my dog go on a "zoom" - he's very fast and the pure joy is catching
  • Sudden, unexpected stuff (I LOVE America's Funniest Videos)
  • Very dry, unexpected humor
  • Beauty: nature, sunrise, sunsets, flocks of geese, elk migrating, etc. etc, etc!
  • "Scary" rides - what makes others scared makes me laugh
  • Kind people...they inspire me and are a model for what humans can be
  • Coffee, hot and fresh, on a weekend morning - nowhere to be, nowhere to go
  • Hiking to the top of a mountain with my dog...actually, I don't know if I'm smiling so much when I do that, but there is joy there...
Great thread, thanks!

Great idea for a thread, Fin. You are the Wise One yet again. What makes me smile. I have to think.
  • A good stand-up comedian with a unique take on things
  • Playing a song with power and emotion and knowing other people felt it too
  • My buddy Ruf's face. (Even though he's gone, he's still with me)
  • Joking around with a friend, teasing
  • A good cup of coffee, real cream and honey (and a warm apple fritter)

All of the wonderful things that are happening in my life makes me smile. All the new and kind friends I am making on and outside this forum also make me smile. children and pets make me smile the most.

to today it feels good to be me.

Kaydee this has made me smile today, it is a beautiful thing, I personally thank you for sharing this. I am glad to have met you here. I am glad to have met everyone here. This forum has made me smile so often. I am very grateful for this.

Relection

I smile more now, I smile when someone acknowledges me, as they reflect my existence, I am choosing to perceive the acknowledgement as acceptance.

Yesterday I accepted help.

The more I hear or see that I exist, the more I realize that I have always had that right, I did not know it, so a smile means more to me than before, now I'm looking to create balance for myself.

This would have to be one of my favorite threads here.

I have my own demons to deal with BUT looking here revitalizes me, in reality we shouldn't need a reason to smile, do it as much as you can just because it feels good. (who was it who said - laughter is the best medicine - they should have included smiles, music, & dancing in the dark by yourself if need be. All of which I am doing much of lately).

Although I haven't worked out how to do the "Quote thing" your comment about creating a balance is soooo true, we all need to strike a balance.

keep shining one and all
