You know - it is a Godsend to have found this site. So many of the things that I steam about privately - are being spelled out by others here. My house has so many things that need to be done - and I don't even realize until my dad comes to town to visit and starts replacing light bulbs, fixes a rattling ceiling fan, and stuff within 15 minutes of being here. He makes all these suggestions - you know if you did this, it would solve that. Like you say, Jen - "man stuff".
When people say, "You might have to be the breadwinner", I think - yeah well, i'll have to be the housewife too - I can just picture my husband sitting home smoking dope all day, playing computer (military) games, and nothing getting done. Except maybe 30 minutes before I get home - a shitty dinner out of a box will have been prepared in order to keep me off of his back. (Thats why all things are done - if done at all - to keep me off his back - not for our family or because they need to be done - or because he wants to contribute)
I was telling my mom last night - so many things I thought were unique to my situation - people live with all over the world. My question remains: Whats in it for me? Emotional connection? Nope. Financial security? Nope. Intellectual conversation? Any conversation? Nope. Fun, laughter, joy? Nope. Someone to help out around the house? Nope. sigh.
