Childhood Am i blowing this out of proportion

When I was 8 an older boy was bullying me and then made sexual advances on me. I'm also male btw. I'm just confused as to why this incident could stay with me for all this time. I still struggle with if this was just a bad joke or malice. Sorry if this post is confusing btw

Because it challenged who you are. Bullying is awful and can make you feel worthless and hopeless. Add to that an unwanted sexual advance at such a young age and I can understand how this just trips around inside your head.

You don't say how old you are now - or how long ago this happened.
I would suggest that something like this could be helped through therapy and that could have a huge impact on your life - for the better!

It dosen't seem like you were blowing this out of proportion. You seem pretty civil and straightforeward in your post, so I'm not sure how you think you are blowing this out of proportion.

"just a bad joke" ?? This bad joke equals malice. There is no minimizing this child's behavior. Bullying and a sexual advance as a "joke" is very telling where that young boy has been. The intention of the bullying and the sexual advance as meant to cause you emotional harm and it sounds like it did. The behavior of other children, even as innocuous as not including another in a conversations, can have a powerful impact on us little kid humans. (heck most adults would stew over this behavior towards them for weeks)
