We are doomed in the U.S. People stupidly think that if we tax the rich more and give more breaks to the poor then all will be good. But you cannot tax the job creators and create more jobs!! What we just increased is the lazy class who expect entitlements. I'm not talking handicap or some other valid reason - I'm talking those who are able to work and simply won't because the government pays their way. This is now a socialist country. I am a single mom who doesn't have much - but what I do have I PAID FOR MYSELF!! And I don't want to pay for people who won't work. I am scared for my children's future.

Scrape it down to bedrock, and Mitt Romney knew that there is but one issue in this campaign: America's woeful economy, and the demonstrated inability of President Obama to cope with it.

Obama says he inherited the mess, but he's done nothing in the 4 years to fix it. Borrow, spend, regulate and redistribute is not a prescription for sustainable growth, yet that has been the totality of his program.

PLUS, you cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the rich out of prosperity. I could go on and on - bottom line is Obama has no real plan to turn around our economy. He will only make it worse and increase our debt. Its a sad day.

Sisu: The US is nothing like a socialist country. Socialist countries are places like Norway and Sweden: rich and full of rich, happy, healthy people.

The US is still terrifyingly right-wing, which suits people like Romney who get rich by bleeding people like you dry and telling you it's all in the name of abstract concepts like 'freedom' and 'democracy', both of which are far more abundant in European nations.

I stopped reading this thread around the middle of the first page.

All the posts are great, but they all seem to be based on the asumption that politicians goal is to actually help the country/people not just get rich, enjoy playing with power, and make their friends rich. If they had more sense they would realize their cash cow which is the US economy needs to be protected better but I doubt they care. D or R really doesn't matter all that much I don't think.

Ah, ha, ha... I'm glad I was doing community service instead of reading this thread. Today the stock market dropped like a stone and we are assured with the re-election of President Obama that the third round of "economic easing" is money to be printed out of "nothing"... and the value of a dollar just took another dive.

I'm a fiscal conservative and I look forward to another 4 years of tax and spend to "grow" our economy. Sarcasim intended. And perhaps even another 4 years of out of control spending because our President and Senate couldn't pass a budget.... um, for the first, second, third and 4th time in the history of our nation. (Great going Dems... appreciate it, really.)

We are a nation with a changing social and political dynamic. I heed to the "wisdom" of the majority, and will be making myself busy for the next 4 years to protect our constitution and trying to cover the rising inflation which will continue to eat away at my disposable income. Grab your asses America... the next debt crisis is just around the corner.

It is my sincere hope that our esteemed president and senate can get their collective shit in one sock every single year for the next 4 years, and produce (and approve) a BUDGET.


Even with that being said, I have been doing a comparitave study of 20th century dictators... and we, are better off than most. Just my idea of fun. I like recent history.

I think my heightened anxiety yesterday was due to the uncertainty. I am a 47%-er per my disability status, and as such I'm persona non-grata, everything that's wrong with this country. It doesn't matter that I paid into social security, I am still a taker. It's scary to hear a candidate want to drastically change social security, and privatize Medicare----for those of us young'uns (who the hell knows what they would have done with us, kick us off our current Medicare plans because we're too young?!?) yeah, I know this BS NEVER would have passed, but it's scary as f*ck to hear a candidate pretty much make you feel like dirt that should go off and die. Yes, take away my EARNED SSDI, my Medicare, and my food stamps and I'd be living on the streets, dead in a few years. Today, I can actually breathe.

I could work myself into a froth of rabid discontent on Medicare or Social Security... but really? I just want a working Congress and incumbent that will have an approved budget.

So Dallas, if you all think you're inclined to secede, remember to take the rest of the south with you eh? At least Missouri finally woke up. My state is still a toss up at last check in... but I think it's gonna go Obama. I blame the south central part of my state, as the panhandle is hard line conservative... but we don't have the numbers to swing my state.

I don't need a nanny state to tell me a 16 oz soda or more isn't good for me. I don't need a federalist to tell my state how to spend it's dollars. I believe in states rights and would encourage states to bolster up their own constitutions these next four years.
