News Another High Profile Rapist Of Children?

I worked as a young engineer for Heinz and when I went to the factories, I was always scared of the men. The looks I got just walking in the canteen. And there were the pictures of naked women in the workshops. And I remember one worker trying to corner me. Spanish guy who somehow he had some right over me because I was half Spanish.

I complained. And the manager they put in charge of the enquiry into sexual harassment, both of them male, and one of them the very manager who told me he wasn't going to promote me because I was female and would go away and have babies. He got on better with some of the other women who would flirt with him. I couldn't abide him. I would avoid sitting next to him at every opportunity because he would be invading my personal space and be too close.

Of course for the enquiry these managers to my face when I said there were sexist remarks and leers in the London factory told me I was lying and that it only might happen in the Northern factory. And the enquiry ended up with nothing being done.

Perhaps now he has passed away the truth will come out, as was the case with Jimmy Saville. If there is truth in the rumours, I can only feel great sadness for the victims, and wonder how they are feeling at this time. If he had abused, and allegations were ignored because of who he was, it will be another example of how unjust and dysfunctional our criminal justice system is. I've had some experience of it and have already lost faith in UK justice.

 Lizio.

I agree, it's absolutely all over Britain, and some of the calanders make me cringe.

The place I worked in Glasgow in the mid 90s, one of the directors (he looked like Ian Paisley did when Paisley was still a BIG intimidating figure) was a narc and probably psychopathic too. Apart from the Rangers Vs Celtic sectarian crap, There would be about 3 complaints of sexual harrassment a year made about him by cleaners. Nothing ever happened.

My successor there was female, and had already proven herself well able to handle him, or I wouldn't have recommended her for the job: She was on the committee of the trade association and at one of the meetings the narc had told her to be a good girl and fetch the tea, she'd replied that she hadn't stood for the committee to fetch teas and if he wanted one he could get off his arse and fetch his own.

She had trouble with the old typists who were not going to do typing for "a wee slip o' a lassie"

After a merger, the narc's successor was even worse. She ended up taking the company to court for sex discrimmination and constructive dismissal, I think she got about a years wages in compensation, but I think it cost her far more, both financially and emotionally.

Out on one of the sites, I was good friends with the manager and deputy and they had the narc's daughter working there on her college holidays, and were noting that the narc seemed to cause as much terror at home as he did at work.

@Lizio whilst you are having such a hard time - watching things like this might not be the best way to go - never stopped me though, so completely ignore at will.

But perhaps a radical idea is 1 minute of self soothing 3 times per day or somesuch?

Yes it is appalling and yes it is every level of society.

Yes you are right @Ms Spock I shouldn't have watched the whole thing. I accidentally caught it on Sunday, when they had the interview with the paedophile who is a member of the group who were saying that children from 4 years old should be able to engage in sexual activities, and that they can consent at that age. I couldn't believe what I was watching. So I watched the whole thing today. What those children were put through. My God. And some of the abusers are still Lords.

Be careful if you follow any of it up on the net. I consider myself to be capable of listening to a lot of bad things (no history of CSA that im aware of, 7 years in a boarding school, I'm fairly desensitised .) But some of the allegations gave me disturbing intrusive thoughts and images for a few weeks.

I was chatting to a cop who I know, a few days back (there are decent people in even the worst of institutions) and he asked if I'd been following the news.

He confessed that he'd had to hold his tongue, when I had expressed pessimism about the abusers in the upper echelons of the state, ever facing sanction.

Turned out he was working on some of the politicians and their cronies in social services Dept's, who were supplying them with children from the care home system to abuse. At least some of those are now in the news. He wasn't specific though

Of the victims, apparently many are now dead, and the surviving ones are frequently now serving multiple life sentences. I think we can understand both as a response to what they have experienced, even if we cannot empathise with or condone the offenders amongst them.

What the status of many of the survivors does mean, is that they are unlikely to be considered credible witnesses in court, especially when the accused is a high profile member of the inner establishment, often trained as barristers and with access to the best of defence and political influence.

Unfortunately, so long as people are willing to accept that some individuals can have special privileges over others (and a state is an institution of specially privileged individuals),
Then the problem of abusers with impunity will continue.

Because if one carries the label of 'mentally ill' one is instantly considered not credible. This doesn't just go for high profile. I have noticed it with certain friends, definitely doctors, etc. That is, imho, why people throw the word 'crazy' around so much towards others. It is the cheap mans way to credibility over others. This is a sample of a macrocosm that surrounds a microcosm that we deal with every day - and most likely don't even recognize because we have been so conditioned to it. Mentally ill means 'not worth listening to'.

Call me crazy..... just my 2 cents.

It's actually the elected politicians who get the say, or at least say what they are told to.

It is interesting that one of the accused was supposedly too demented to stand trial, but he was still getting paid for showing up in the house of lords, to preside over the rest of us.

In terms of monarchy vs democracy (I'd actually prefer freedom, devolution to the level of the individual) Hans Herman Hoppe, has a very good exploration of the different incentives applying to each. The title gives his conclusion away,
"Democracy, The God That Failed"
Hoppe doesn't believe in copyright, so his work is free to download.

My own criticism of Hoppes essay onis, I think the important decisions for the establishment are way above the paygrade of elected clowns, they serve to distract attention from the shadowy figures with real power.
