Anxiety - Lack Of Eating

I'm sorry to resurrect this thread, and sorry to use this as my first post. I came across this thread/forum when I was Googling anxiety and a lack of appetite, and wanted to share my voice.

Like many of you, I find anxiety takes its toll on me in a way that seems to prevent an appetite. When at its worst, I find I either have no appetite, or I find myself nauseous to the point of almost throwing up (or sometimes actually throwing up). Lately, my only real remedy is Ginger Ale, though the amount of Ginger Ale I consume probably isn't healthy. And it's not feasible to have it at all times.

I'd be curious to know if anyone finds themselves with similar symptoms as this; when I feel anxious, I don't eat. When I don't eat, I almost certainly will get a headache. In most cases, I can't get rid of the headache unless I sleep it off overnight. Sometimes, I find that taking an Advil and eating some pudding (don't know how or why) will actually help me to cure it. I've lately found that a shower helps, too.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi. I hope to explore these boards and contribute where appropriate. And certainly curious if anyone has any update on their lack of eating/anxiety?

I was the original poster and I still am dealing with the problem.

I've noticed that exercise lowers my anxiety and raises my appetite temporarily.

Welcome and good luck!

It's the opposite for me, in regards for eating. Exercise suppresses my appetite. I like to use it as a way to deliberately eat less.

I'm underweight. I eat in series I guess. Sometimes I can't eat for days, sometimes I eat a lot. though, I'm suppose to eat 3600 calories a day. I think I've never reached that, rarely.

For me, it's stress. I can't manage a meal if I'm stressed. Not only the energy to make the food but to eat it... just way too much. Pork and beans, probably because you like them so much and it's super easy - thus less stress?

maybe?

Sorry, if that's not helpful. It's probably not.

Pork & Beans is a great temporary solution, and cans of soup. Stuff that I can stock in my kitchen, and doesn't go bad even if I'm too depressed to go to the store or cook...

My latest idea is to invite the neighbor for dinner. For some reason it's easier to cook a "real" meal, and then actually eat it...

Unlike my ex, he appreciates it... So bonus gratification with that.

I believe the best idea is to invite your neighbor.... I hope it worked out for you.

I simply have no appetite, often forget eating during the day. Also do not tolerate heavy stuff, red meat, dry food, too much sweet either. I throw up after eating lately.

Sport helped me so far the most, at least I get some appetite after a workout ( not always).
