Any Helpful Medications?

I did not have much trouble getting off Seroquel, although I did start taking an herbal sleep med that really did the trick.

Ooh - which one?

Separately, I hope that you are able to feel better soon. I'm sorry that your symptoms are causing you so much trouble now:(.

Deep Sleep Dead Link Removed

At the health food store, they said it worked for more people than any others they sold. The liquid is cheapest; it also comes in pill form.

I hope this OK to relate; I know there is problem with giving advice on this site. I would, however, go to an online med checker that includes herbals to make sure it is not going to interfere with your present medication.

Thanks for your sympathy. It has been a hard year. Looking forward to starting over with the next one!:x3:

Thank you gamereign. I may need to go back to prescription drug, as I am counting pennies and have good med coverage.

My sister just recommended some natural supplements to manage stress. "Dong quai" is at the top of the list, along with "fish oil." I'm trying them in January when I visit. I'll let you know how much the supplements help with lowering stress and anxiety.

Oh yeah, and I started doing tai chi exercizes that are on youtube for free. Only two days, and I feel much more calm and balanced. Anything that will help!

Re: Prozac anxiety comment.

I am surprised that Prozac is so readily rx'ed for anxiety issues. Well, no not really considering how most drs are incompetent and unknowledgeable. I had horrendous anxiety on Prozac. One of my former psychs was a member of the board of a top medical school and had his own sizable private practice. (That is, he knew his shiznit). Anyway, after telling him my Prozac experience, he said it was the SSRI to most likely exacerbate anxiety issues and he only used it as a med of last resort (when anxiety was present) I suppose it's so widely used as it was the first of the newer generation of antidepressants that debuted ~20+ years ago.

I got no use at all from SSRI's, they had absolutely no effect on me. I found Venlafaxine was a bit of help, but the extended release one made me dissociate lots more. Diazepam, etc, it was always too late by the time it was given to me.

I don't know from personal experience but I had a friend warn me off Wellbutrin because a possible side effect is increased anger?

I've been taking Citalopram 40mg for 3yrs, it has certainly helped me especially when going through some difficult therapy sessions. It's an SSRi & non addictive. I also take Amitriptyline to help with sleep.

The side effects really depend on the person for the most part. I haven't heard complaints about increased anger but that's not to say it doesn't happen. Possible side effects cover a lot of ground and have to be listed even if they have only shown up in a few people in a trial.

Well it was my friend's personal experience and I goggled it and found others complaining of the same issue. I'm not sure if it's officially listed as a side effect.

I guess it is listed: aggressiveness, agitation, irritability, hostility,
I think she did use the words aggressive and hostile to explain what she felt.
I guess for me that was enough to look for something else...
