What if you just sat on the bike,
I did sit on it :D

sing The Bicycle Song by Queen!
I can assure you that my bottom size will win :oops:.

Confession time :notworthy: I did sit on the bike and even scooted along for a few yards. However, there is no way I'll be taking the bike to France on Thursday. I am just too damn fat and too unfit to manage riding. No-one to blame but me. I can't safely get on and off. Hell, I can hardly get my leg over the step through frame.

So here is the plan. When I get back off holiday, I WILL join a gym. I will practise getting on and off the bike and with determination I will eventually ride.

Sorry if I've failed at the first hurdle. No excuses but since breaking a bone in my neck, I'm terrified of falling.

Sorry.

I think this is a marvellous idea. I'd love to join in as I've been treading the path of getting back into shape. And also, like many of the above posters, I have bigtime difficulty with working out with or around others. Well there was one exception - dancing in a massive dusty drum circle, an environment that encouraged you to dance however you want. Pretty much the only years in my life where I actually appeared fit and healthy. There's nothing regular like that around here anymore, and I'll be here for the next four years in univeristy..... So, yeah solitary is the way I'm going on this one. When I think about it, it's kind of like healing trauma, don't ever bite off more than you can chew or it'll all fall to pieces. Yesterday I was scouring google for info on beginner exercise routines and very few pages that I read appealed to me. But I liked an article from "lifehacker" called "How To Motivate Yourself Into an Exercise Routine You'll Actually Stick To"

KP - Failure is just fine and you have no reason to apologise. As long as we keep trying and moving forward, even if they are quater steps, we'll still reach our destination. Do what you feel comfortable with. If a bike is not it, then look elsewhere. For me, some night jogging with my dog, stretching and doing push-ups in the morning is what I can handle right now. I don't get this whole doggy raincoat thing? my dog would be pretty unhappy if i were to shield him from the rain. But then again he's a newfoundland and the rain just rolls off him for the most part.

You didn't fail!
Thank you Olivia, I needed to hear that.

Hubby woke me this morning and as it was warm, my legs were stuck out of the bed. Even before he said good morning he said 'my god, where did those bruises come from?' Yep guess what, yesterdays riding has resulted on 2 quite normal looking bruises and a monster bruise which runs around the side and back of my knee, so about 5 inches long and 2 inches wide

Oh I started this thread and I'm already slacking! But to my credit I got a pair of running shorts for only $5 at Old Navy today on special! Lol.

My diet is all out of whack and I keep making excuses as to why not exercise. Well, no more!

So my sister has been bringing this workout DVD over and volunteered to be my workout buddy. I thought, psshhhht, this is going to be easy! I mean, I used to do p90x and the insanity workout!

THAT DVD CHICK IS THE DEVIL! I was sucking wind so hard I could see the walls of the house move in an out! She, of course is smiling through the whole thing, not sweating, not groaning. I want to punch her, but I can't lift my arms. Trying to figure out how I am supposed to wash my hair.
