So I had a month check up with my new psychiatrist today. Man is he a great guy! He had recent research printed for me and talked to me about his studies with PTSD and everything! It was so cool.

Apparently, if someone experiences a traumatic event and takes a certain kind of blood medication right after the event it can block PTSD from forming. Isn't that just insane? The reason being that their is more to do with the heart with PTSD than imagined before. Yes, it is in our minds but it affects are hearts as well. If you "cut" it off from the heart before it reaches the brain, then it could stop those bad memories from forming. I really hope those lab rats are figuring this out for the all of us.

Anyhow, in the recent research he gave me, it talks about all sorts of medications used to treat this, and the studies related. It's pretty interesting. After looking over the article we decided I should try a blood medication for nightmares. It starts with a P. I'm waiting on it to get filled, but once I figure it out I will post it. It has a high success rate for nightmares.

He also upped the quetiapine to 50mg and the Paxil is staying the same.

Oh, I also start emdr tomorrow at my university. Guess what? It's free ;)

Good for you for having such a positive outlook on therapy. It broke me free of a mental prison that I served 25 years in. The sad part? I am only 29. You have to want badly enough to break free, otherwise you'll always remain a prisoner in your own head.
