Just thought i'd clarify too that the therapist i was talking about was referring to scans done during research, as at the time it was an emergent therapy & me being scanned was at no time mentioned in any way.
I would also like to add that, given the importance of research (& rightfully so) lets not ignore the enormous body of reseach that has been done on & around the power of belief alone &/or happiness that has also come to show how the brain changes over time & in accordance to it.
Personally i like the facts or truth but, when believing in snake oil can get the job done too, i say do whatever you got to do to get the job done. Afterall, there is research to suggest that both can be just as a healing.
I guess it's kind of the whole point really ..do you want to be right or do you want to be healthy? Now if you are wanting to become a therapist then it is really important that you are right, but for me, my only concern has been to get healthy & i say if Ariana gets benefit from it, i say go for it.
My recovery philosophy has always been to only focus on working in the areas that were stopping me from doing the things that i wanted to do..the rest was a matter of opinion, regardless of how educated a position it was coming from. Might seem harsh, but as we well know, PTSD doesn't take prisoners & at times there were definately some very thin threads keeping it all together.
