you are a lifesaver @shimmerz I wasn't really thinking of safety. I'm so glad to know about the eucalyptus warning. Really you have helped me so much over the months, thanks shimmerz.

I'll take a look at those sites when I have a bit more mental energy. I just feel so drained.
 
Sounds like you are pretty exhausted @MrMoonlight. This oil thing, I would definitely imagine (and know from past experience) is a lot of decision making based on 'I don't knows'. That is super draining. So now, why not take out one of those bottles of oils you just got and sniff.

Sniff and then feel how that makes you feel. How does your mood change? Are you distracted momentarily? Did a nice image come to mind? Do you notice a change inside your mouth? Really, no stress necessary for this stuff to work for you. Simply open cap and inhale deeply. Verrrrryyyyyy Deeply.

I recently found a website that I really like and I purchased some 100% pure oil blends.......such as; Frankincense and Myrrh, Patchouli and Cedarwood along with some solitary (hair and skin care) fragrance oils such as Amber and Sandalwood. I have only ordered small amounts of 'fragrance' oils and am just now getting around to the pure therapeutic grade essential oils.

I must say that a little bit of sandalwood oil in my diffuser helps me to sleep better at night and that the patchouli and cedarwood oil is a good base for a masculine fragrance oil.

I used to make my own blends many years ago but, I am re-exploring aromatherapy and essential oils. So I will need to go back and take a better look at this thread to see what I've missed and take a closer look at the links provided. I want to expand the little knowledge I do have.

Yeah man it got overwhelming really quick because projects like this always do for me. I just placed the order today so I'm looking forward to getting the oils in a couple days. I will initially just sniff them out of the bottle as has been suggested but all the creative ways to disseminate the smells you guys and gals came up with is inspiring. I can't wait to make water spray bottles with the peppermint and orange scents. That sounds so nice and I bet will help symptom wise.

Right now I'm trying to reinforce my EMDR safe place with the scent of Hawaiian Tropic Dark Tanning Oil. I put some on my hands and arms rubbing it in thoroughly. I smell it, say my safe word and go into my floating safe place. My therapist says the more senses we can bring into the emdr safe place the better..even tastes if you'd believe it.

Anyway I hope these essential oils serve as mooring posts.

I didn't read through the thread, so I apologize if this is repetitive.

I freaking LOVEEE frankincense. I tried lavender, but it gives me headaches. I like eucalyptus a lot for anything except bed time, and for that I stick with frankincense. A got a diffuser for super cheap at a store that was having after Christmas sales....it fall themed, I guess? Still diffuses the air just fine....

I get my essential oils at the grocery store. That way I can look (and smell) in private, as opposed to a smaller shop or boutique. They have testers you can sample with. They carry an "organics" brand, but that's more expensive. The regular brand they have is "100% pure" which is what I've read you're supposed to look for. I have also read that citrus oils can wear down diffusers, so keep that in mind, whether that means cleaning it more regularly or whatever. I clean mine every two days, depending on how often I've been using it.
