At The Hospital

Cute PJ's, by the way

Back down to earth.

The doctor's don't know exactly what happened as I wasn't putting a lot of pressure on my knee when the injury happened nor did it get hit or knocked to an extent which would cause bone breakage.

The xrays show a dark area on the bone where I heard the crack which they say might be a minute fracture/crack otherwise they believe cartilage/ligament damage which they won't assess until Thursday so they have time to monitor how much the pain subsides and watch what happens with my knee until then. So its compression bandage and crutches for a week for me at this stage.

The drugs made me feel horrible so I had a nap and now I have a shocking headache but don't feel like I am going to puke over my cool pyjamas anymore.

Anthony has been wonderful. I could see the hours in the hospital take their toll on him but he was very concerned and is most helpful now.

Thank you for keeping us posted!

Could you also go see an Orthopaedic Surgeon ASAP? (Or hopefully, the ER called one to evaluate your case?).
The knee is such a complex joint. I hope the remedy is gentle and you heal very quickly!

Your pjs are adorable! I'll bet they got you lots of smiles and special care.

I'm so sorry the drugs made you feel so sick.
Hot ginger tea with honey (1/8th teas powdered ginger and 2 tablespoons honey in hot water, well-stirred), or munching crystallized ginger chunks (water nearby) can help ease nausea and headaches.
This is a much-loved and helpful remedy in our house. (You can adjust to taste.)

Kudos to Anthony, hero of the day!

You are in my thoughts, heart and prayers, Hon!
Sending love and a very gentle hug!

All my love and healing wishes,

Thanks Deer.

A little secret....I hate ginger so I guess I am just going to have to put up with feeling nauseous

. I do appreciate your suggestions however and the time spent writing them out for me.

I love my pjs too thank you

In relation to the hospital treatment - the ambulance ladies were great and requested I got fast tracked as they had done an evaluation at home. The only hold up was the xray department. I can't really complain as half the time I was on happy gas.

Oh do take care with your knee Nicolette. Rest it as much as you can, do your best not to put any weight on it until they say you can.

If they suggest physio, it may be wise to except it, then keep the strengthening exercises up, even after it has healed. I still do mine occasionally, 5 years on.

Oh and keep it warm in cold weather. You should have seen us limping together when it was icy cold, my right, his left, so we looked a right pair.

Oh, you poor dear heart! I apologize for adding to your woes by suggesting the g. (I hate being nauseated more than just about anything, so to me you're very brave!)

I'm glad to see your mood is sleeping, I hope you're resting well and deeply.
Feeling very sad you're hurt... and hoping you're feeling much better, very soon...

Sending my love and healing wishes,

P.S. Maybe your Dr. would prescribe Salsa as the best physical therapy after you're healed? ;)
(Then your dance lessons would be covered by medical insurance :D ) Amethist's suggestion is a great one, women's knees are so vulnerable to injury. The PT exercises are wonderful at protecting your joint from further injury and damage, once you've healed enough for the Drs. O.K.

Oh my! I just saw this whole thread- so sorry! The problem is that the common theme through it is those pajamas so kept getting distracted through all the posts- you have to admit even without PTSD they're distracting. I love them!

So sorry for the pain. Knees are the one thing I know nothing about, for some reason remaining intact in the rest of the carnage but at your age I'm sure whatever it is will be healed and back in form in no time!

Healing thoughts to you, and take care,

Anni

Hello Nicolette, like Anni, just saw this news. One good thing is that you went immediately to the hospital, at least there is no time for the collateral dammaged to set in. Already had knee problems which got worse because it took time to get the right help. Aww, I always figured Anthony to be a real nice guy behind his make believe sour puss face pics. You take care ... and BTW ... jealous of those pyjamas, too bad they aren't green

Take care Nicolette and be careful on those crutches. OH....maybe that is just me who has issues with them. Been through the knee thing and feel your pain. Hang in there. Hope they find answers and fix you all up soon!

Nic,

Sorry to hear about your knee and all the problems. Here's hoping everything heals well with no residual problems. Glad to hear that the ambulance attendents were so good about getting you seen quickly. Rest up and feel better. That's an order, missy!

BTW-love the PJ's!!!!
