Hi forum readers.
I was told about this site and decided to sign up.
So about me, 37 years of age.
19 yrs in the Australian Air Force - 10yrs as an Airfield Defence Guard no issues.
9 yrs as Ciscon deploy and then it happened.

Returned to OZ and after a year of showing signs I seeked help and was diagnosed with PTSD and very bad anxiety.

So now i fight the new fight trying to keep my military career and the struggle with DVA.

Cheers

Good to get help while your still in. I didn't really crash till after I released. At least this way you won't be fighting the DVA for treatment. Covered by the Military System till release.

Welcome Sabre

You've found the right place. Good people, Good info as well. Glad to hear you're getting treatment. Welcome aboard.

Welcome Sabre, if you need a hand with the VA, inbox me. I am in Townsville and struggled with my first claim. Its all in the wording and sometimes what you don't put down.

As you have been diagnosed, try and get yourself on a PTSD course. They run them every few months and they are well worth it.

Yep I at 65% classified with DVA.
Issue is I know need to be upgraded for TPI as I cannot work more than 8 hrs per week.
Going to an advocate this week with all my medical paperwork.

As for getting help while I am still in well that's another story, but let me say there has been no help just more anxiety with this discharge.

Sabre,

You are way better of if you can be discharged medically than taking your pension. Trust me on that.
I have friends all over the place in the TPI community that can help.
What rank are you at present and where are you serving???

I had my gold card just prior to discharge and ended up on MEC 4. Then just after discharge I would have been on TPI special rate if it had not been for one piece of paper I misplaced.

Now I am on a Class A pension and TPI for the rest of my life. People tell me I am lucky, pfft, I would trade it all just to have my health and career back.
