To add to the above:
1. When you call you inurance company, they can help you get logged into their website, that you can have access to. On the website, all aspects of your insurance coverage will be explained.
2. When calling your insurance company, ask the if the therapist you want to see is "in network" (payed 70-80%) along with your copay.
3. Some insurance policies have limits of visits per year. And some states have laws that over-ride the insurance policy: for example I use to have 20 visits per year. Then a state law passed that said insurance had to cover as many mental health provider visits as medical doctor visits.
4. Know that your insurance company has a partial list of providers in your area. (Many providers just don't want their name on the list, even though they are covered.) This is why it pays to call the Provider, and ask if they are 'in network' with your insurance, and then call and verify this with your insurance company.
