6 weeks ago I went to the doctor frustrated that my chronic back injury was at the point that I was back to needing regular weekly treatment again plus massages which is something I promised myself I would never let myself get back to. Let alone the constant pain. The next week I decided to start boxing as a means of getting back some core strength and at the same time release stress in a healthy way.

5 weeks in of boxing and not only am I loving it, I haven't had to go and have one back treatment or massage and my back doesn't hurt - not even post exercise, aside from the day of two of walking funny from having used muscles which I obviously haven't used for quite some time.

I'm feeling stronger class after class and even the old lady bat wings which were developing on my arms and heading south are slowly being replaced by reasonably toned arms. I get I'm no longer 25 but I'm looking and feeling better. Yes social media has suffered but it's been a great sacrifice especially when I come home after class invigorated helping some of the most daunting tasks achievable once again.

There's a lot to be said for making sure exercise is a priority in your diary and not something you squeeze in if you can.

Im so happy for you Nicolette! It is wonderful that it has helped your pain. I try to stay walking around on days off as the lesser activity makes the pain worse.

I miss working out! I cant walk the dog far but I go as far as I can pushing to go further (but not too much as I will over do it).

But anyway, so happy for you! Box that stress out (and feel less pain and get a better body in the meantime...psst better body is always good lol)! ;)

Good for you, great that it's toning and also helping you to manage your pain levels. Sounds like Anthony might have to watch out for you if he'd volunteer to be your sparring partner, eh? ;)

I can't rave enough about the physical and mental benefits I got from boxing. Total game changer for me. A lot of people assume that I love it because I get to hit stuff - but that's not it at all. My head switches off and becomes completely focused on physical exertion, and it helps me be in touch with my body just as much as yoga ever did.

Always stoked to hear about another boxing convert. So so many benefits, and you really don't seem to need to have an ounce of aggression in you:)

I do traditional Tae Kwan Do, and we incorporate a lot of boxing, too. It is AMAZING how much better a person can feel after a good workout. So glad to read about another "convert."

Great to hear you're doing boxing. It's great for you physically and mentally, depending on the person.

My father was a boxer on T.V. Forced it upon me when I was 11. Hated every second of it, but might get back into it later in life.

Glad to hear it's working out for you
