Any Canadian here have neuropsych?

How long it take to get one?

Why we need one?

Did they help?

I have legal case active so hosp wont assign neuropsych services. Mental health emerg at hosp keep telling me everytime in crisis i need to see a neuropsych... i dont even know why. Its like a cow telling me i need milk and refusing to give milk.

I am very tired and frustrsted at the system. Am i alone??

Hi, yes I got one because I had neurosurgery and wanted to see if I had any deficits. Mostly it was for vocational reasons.

I was very lucky. It was funded by the "employment supports" of the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP)

Did it help? No not really. I was given a job coach who got me a job so that was great.

The testing took two days and covered many tests for intelligence, problem solving, thinking, reasoning, remembering...etc

You might be asked to:
Repeat a series of numbers, letters, or words.
Look at some simple drawings and then draw them from memory.
Name pictures that the examiner shows
Name as many words as you can think of that begin with a certain letter or are in a certain category (for example, animals or fruits).
Sort cards according to colors or shapes on the cards
Use a pencil to connect a series of numbered or lettered dots on a sheet of paper
Stack colored discs in a certain pattern.

Hope this helps.

I'd like to mention, if you live in Ontario, you do not have to be receiving financial assistance from the Ontario Disability Support Program to be eligible for Employment Supports.

To be eligible for Employment Supports, you must:
be 16 years of age or older
be a resident of Ontario
have a disability that is expected to last a year or more, and
have a disability that makes it hard for you to find or keep a job.
If you are a student and you wish to work part-time while you are going to school, you MAY be eligible for Employment Supports.

Thank you and welcome i see ur new member.

I am not in Ontario. Thanks for the share of details. Did they use the test to narrow down what jobs you would excel in?

I did poorly in visual-motor areas and excelled in non-verbal analytical reasoning. Good at spatial skills...they mentioned being a plumber (LOL) but my hands are not very good.

Care to share what is happening with you? Sorry to hear you are in crisis. I wish you some relief. If you have any other questions I can answer, I'd like to help.
