@Friday what do you mean cutesy? My little guy prefers hoodies because they cover him better. I hate the coats with arm holes as big as my pups heads, I always think, what’s the point. My one pup loves the pajama both front and back legs coverage
Protective clothing for 2legged upright walking mammals &/vs protective clothing for 4legged prone walking mammals.
They’ve been tested/trialed extensively (especially for horses & dogs, as those are still working animals in many parts of the world, and million dollar animals in other; llamas have their own blankets that grow off of them) and the highest rate of survival, overall health, & injury avoidance? Are variations on the 3,000+ year old “horse blanket” style. Core wraps, with head & legs free. Unless they’re fire scouts. In which case, it’s in reverse; reflective bellies & legs.
The “sleeves” are one of the more dangerous aspects, of “cutesy” bipedal clothes on 4legged creatures clothes... causing ripped tendons, entanglements/trapped limbs/suffocation, &/or soaking up moisture causing frost burn & frost bite & hypothermia.. If you need to keep 4 foot’s legs warm? Wrap them individually with real woolen fleece & tape, and keep supervised to change if/when they get wet. But, for the most part (down to about -20, even colder for cold weather adaptations) the physiology of the animal themselves protects them from leg, cold, as long as you can keep their core warm.
Does your pup really wear 4 sleeved pajamas out in below freezing temperatures? Soaking up melted snow & mud? That’s really not safe. Even in just pouring rain, it’s creating a lot of drag on a tendon system that’s designed to carry weight from the completely opposite direction.
I mean, indoors, in a temp controlled/supervised/manicured environment? No worries. Real weather? Go for what’s species specific.
Species specific doesn’t matter when it’s purely decorative/cutesy. My cat has a 6’ long dragon curled around his bed. But out in real weather? Humans will lose feet & hands, with only something wrapped around their backs. Dogs will lose legs, with weight dragging cold sponge sleeves. And no cat on the planet needs a 6’ long dragon.

There are things we do at home, and things we do adventuring. That look different. For good reason.
