Most Brits will remember the adverts of the 70s telling us to fasten our seatbelts in a car.

Fewer will remember that the frontman for the advert was Jimmy Saville. The reason I have shared this is because a friend was making a joke the other day and smiled at me as she said 'clunk click...' I was horrified as the connection was immediately there in my brain - but for her it meant nothing.

For me the connection is ;paedophile!

He also presented a series of home and child safety programs around the same time. It was called Play it Safe. There was an accompanying book that I remember my mother showing me pictures of various 'dangers' in....

He was part of my weird childhood. I never got how anyone saw him as likeable. He freaked me out. So did not surprise me when all that stuff came out. Jim'll fix it just gave me the creeps. I remember all those kids around him and I had real bad vibes. But at that time was when I had that pervert of a year 5 teacher, so think I was primed. The clunk click campaign was him. So of course that is what you would think about. I can't believe anyone would mention that now and not think about it.

The person that mentioned it is Police. She was thinking road safety and theme park safety having just had a trip away and that was her context. I don't for one moment think she considered the link that we do, as it is simply not a part of her story.
