Combat Causes Ptsd - Wtf...?!

Hell, the longer I hang out here, the more I learned. Is combat part of the cause? Sure is! But I suspect that what has been discussed on the forums is true- we get primed for PTSD in boot camp. Like the others said, the best thing you can do is seek treatment. Just referring to yourself as a wimp is a big read flag. I have yet to hear of a single MilSpec PTSDer that didn't feel the exact same way....myself included...but as it turns out that is a common symptom.

There is I don't know how many hundreds of years worth of experience here on the subject. My advice is take advantage of that fact and talc to the Docs. Yeah, I know, most of them are a pain in the ass, but if they weren't they wouldn't be Docs....

Ain't callin you a wimp, 79! Ain't a man or woman on this site that's a wimp. It takes guts to go up against this thing and try to make a life for yourself as well. Good advice above, take it and run with it. Pull up a chair and join in.

Pardon my typos...I get a little twitchy sometimes...

Ok, I get that you all want me to change my name, will do as soon as I figure out this technology crap. BTW the name "Wimp" was because I am the opposite. It was a nick name given to me growing up, never took it literally before.
Thank you for your kind words and support. I am getting help (my husband left me a few months after I got back and told me I had to get help, so I did, he was right).
I am going through this site slowly, but I'm liking the support.
Cheers.

Well you can blow me down with a feather. So I take it Wimp your a chick then, not that there is a problem with that. To change your handle, just send Anthony and email, but if Wimp is a nickname then so be it.
We will just have to deal with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!You see, I was first cab off the rank in assuming you were putting yourself down. Doh!!!!!

You are not alone with regards to having your partner leave you. I could safely say that 70% of us on here have had our other halves leave or at least have had strained relations. Mine left me.

The good news in all this is that it does get better. But like anything good in life, it isn't easy.

But we are all here for you if you have any questions. Even Alan (just a joke).

Hey W

As usual, late to the party. I can see you've already received a lot of great info. Welcome and make yourself at home, you are.

So, Wimp where you from? In the U.S. we don't have women in infantry...yet. Think that's what threw off the guys...i saw your profile said female. Your pic looks like your from the UK. Lots of people from the UK on this website. Me? I am just a silly american former soldier.:D

Welcome W. to the club, there's some women vets here with combat PTSD also, along with the guys. What did you do? I was in the US Airforce and a female combat vet that did my time in Somalia..
